Reward – Sun Express Shooting – Mbike Island

Royal Solomon Islands Police announce a reward of $100,000 for information in relation to the shooting and arson attack at Mbike Island on 9 December 2014.

On 9 December 2014 persons attacked the motor vessel Sun Express at Mbike Island, Central Province. The persons fired a number of shots at the boat and later threw petrol onto the boat and set the petrol on fire. At the time the shots were fired three crew members of the Sun Express were on board the vessel. Also present on Mbike at the time of the attack were 17 newly elected members of parliament.

The co-operation of the public is sought to establish the identity of the person or persons responsible for the shooting and arson on 9 December 2014.

A reward of up to $100,000 will be paid at the discretion of the Commissioner of Police, for information leading to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime.

Note: It is a serious offence to provide false information to police under section 187 of the Police Act 2013 and you can be convicted and receive a penalty of 10,000 penalty units or 1 year imprisonment or both.
