RSIPF COMMENDS PUBLIC FOR INCIDENT FREE SOLOMON CUP 2017

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has highly commended members of the public, the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF), the sponsors and all stakeholders for a successful and incident-free three weeks Solomon Cup 2017.

“RSIPF is very pleased with the behaviour of the large crowds that turned up to watch the games at the Lawson Tama stadium from the beginning of the tournament to the grand final last Saturday 15 July. There was no major incident that was reported in connection with the Games during the entire period of the tournament,” said Deputy Commissioner Operations, Gabriel Manelusi who was overall in charge of the RSIPF Sol-Cup 2017 Operations.

“This shows to Police that our people have moved on from the days where we used to have problems while organising such big crowd drawing activities. Our public must be congratulated as this shows to the world that citizens of Solomon Islands are law abiding citizens and are prepared to rebuild the image of our ‘Hapi Isles’. The RSIPF salutes you for this,” said Deputy Commissioner, Manelusi.

Mr Manelusi added: “The celebrations that followed the finals last Saturday was also incident free, a further manifestation of the law abiding mindset of our people.”

RSIPF also thanked SIFF and the sponsors of the Solomon Cup 2017 for facilitating the work of the Force during the tournament, and the public for their patience during the holdup of the traffic and the temporary movement of markets from around the Lawson Tama fence perimeter.

“I also want to publicly thank all RSIPF officers who took part in the Solcup 2017 operations for their tireless effort in ensuring the security of the public attending the games was maintained from the start to the end of the tournament. Well done colleagues,” said Deputy Commissioner Manelusi.

RSIPF calls on all citizens of this country to continue to maintain the good behaviour shown during the Solomon Cup 2017 during future large public gatherings and help your police to ensure everyone including families enjoy such activities.
