RSIPF recovers stolen plaque from Bloody Ridge

RSIPF Guadalcanal Officers today recovered the stolen plaque from the WWII memorial at Bloody Ridge East of Honiara and are in search for a suspect who allegedly removed the plaque last weekend.

The plaque was only installed during the recent commemorations to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal during the Second World War.

The plaque was handed in to Guadalcanal Police today after it was found by a woman in an old house by the Lungga River when she went for gardening. Police interviewed the woman and are now searching for a suspect who allegedly stole the plaque from Bloody Ridge.

“We want to thank members of the public for coming forward to assist the police find the missing plaque. We continue to urge the public in the Lungga River area to come forward with information that will enable the police to apprehend the suspect,” says Provincial Police Commander, Guadalcanal Province, Nixon Manetoga.
