Four charged with arson and robbery incident in North West Guadalcanal

A total of four adult male persons have been charged with one count of robbery and one count of arson each in connection with an incident at the Doma Festival Compound on North West Guadalcanal which saw the burning of a canteen and the robbing of a family in the area on Sunday 22 October 2017.

The four men have been released on bail and due to appear in court for mention on 8 November 2017.

It was alleged that the four men were travelling in a car and arrived at the Doma Festival Compound where they threatened a family there and set fire to the family’s canteen.

It was further alleged the men then left Doma in the car and at the Tamboko area, stopped a car and robbed another family which included the father, wife and a sick child.

The four men were arrested by Police at the White River Police Station and handed over to Police in Guadalcanal Province

“I condemn such an action especially intimidating and robbing a family with a sick child and the burning of a family canteen,” says Provincial Police Commander Guadalcanal Police, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga.

“I appeal to members of the public to assist my officers with information about the incident,” says PPC Manetoga.
