Police destroys six crocodiles in Western Province

The Police Response Team (PRT) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has successfully destroyed six crocodiles during an operation carried out on Kolombangara Island in the Western Province from 14- 23 October 2017.

The PRT were deployed from Honiara following concerns about the threat of dangerous crocodiles at Hapi Harbour and Lolu Bibiu Harbour to lives of people in the community.

The RSIPF will respond whenever required to protect the people of Solomon Islands.

Supervising Director of NRD, Superintendent Rex Waiwori says, “This lawful crocodile destruction operation is our third one since RAMSI left in June and so far I am very pleased with the outcome of the operations.”

“We have received a lot of positive feedback from the communities that we have conducted the successful destruction of the dangerous reptile. We want to thank members of the communities including those on Kolombangara who assisted with information on the location of the crocodiles making it easy for the members of the PRT team to destroy the reptiles,” says Superintendent Waiwori.

People are encouraged to report any sightings of crocodiles in their communities to their nearest police station or call phone 23666 or the toll free 999 with information.
