Police investigate store break-in west of Honiara

Police in Guadalcanal Province are investigating an incident of a store break-in at the Kauvare area West of Honiara on Sunday 29 October during which cash totalling $50,000 and other items worth more than $25,000 were stolen.

“It is believed that the suspect climbed on top of the roof of the shop and gained entry by cutting through the roofing iron and stole the cash and other items,” says Provincial Police Commander, Guadalcanal Province, Nixon Manetoga.

“With the help of the Police at the White Police Station, my officers searched for a vehicle that was believed to be involved in the store break-in and sighted it at the White River 02 bus stop. When the officers apprehended the occupants of the car it was discovered that one of them is the remand escapee, Frank Firimolea. He is now a suspect in the store break-in at the Kauvare area,” says PPC Manetoga.

He adds: “I also want to thank the members of the community who supplied information which led to the arrest of the suspect in the Kauvare store break-in incident and assistance from other parts of the RSIPF including logistics.”

Police are yet to formally charge the suspect Frank Firimolea in connection with the store break-in incident but are continuing with their investigations.
