RSIPF mounts guard of honour to welcome ROC President

Members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) this evening mounted a full guard of honour to welcome the President of the Republic of China on Taiwan (ROC), H.E Tsai Ing-Wen who touched down at the Henderson International Airport after 7.30 pm for the start of a two-day visit to Honiara.

The guard of honour for the ROC President included a Male and Female Platoon accompanied by a Colour Bearer Party. The RSIPF Brass Band was also part of the parade.

“The RSIPF welcomes the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Solomon Islands and are honoured to be part of the welcome ceremony on her arrival this evening. RSIPF will also mount a guard of honour for the President on her departure on Friday morning,” says Commissioner of Police, Matthew Varley.

Commissioner Varley adds: “Police will also mount a full operation consisting of about 200 officers to provide security for the ROC President and her delegation during their stay in Honiara.”

“After 14 years of assistance from the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) which ended in June this year, the RSIPF is confident to independently organise such events in providing security for our visiting dignitaries at the same time maintain law and order in our local communities,” says Commissioner Varley.
