RSIPF officers in Kirakira conduct traffic check

In an effort to prepare for the upcoming festive session, Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Makira-Ulawa provincial capital Kirakira conducted a traffic check in the township on 21 November 2017.

The officers checked for driver’s licenses, vehicle licenses, third party insurance and Road Transport Act’s required documents.

The Provincial Police Commander, Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “Twenty vehicles were checked during the traffic operation and issued with PF66 which requires them to produce their documents at the police station within three days.

PPC Sitai says, “I strongly urge vehicle owners and drivers to bring the required documents otherwise they may be liable for prosecution.”

“According to the Kirakira traffic statistics we have a good number of vehicles this year and this operation is also part of the preparations for the Christmas festive session,” says PPC Sitai.

Mr Sitai adds: “The aim of the traffic check is to improve road safety and ensure that all vehicles must meet requirements of the law before delivering transport services to the people and communities in Makira.”
