RSIPF thanks public for good behaviour.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commends members of the public in Honiara who turned up at the Henderson International Airport this morning (1 February) to see the FIFA World Cup trophy during a brief stopover as part of the world tour.

“Several hundred members of the public turned up at the Airport and the event went on smoothly without any disturbance and I am so proud of the outcome,” says Commissioner of Police, Matthew Varley.

He added, “I want to thank the general public for their cooperation and helping to mark this special day in the history of Solomon Islands as a soccer loving country.”

The FIFA World Cup trophy spent about three hours at the Henderson International Airport before moving on to Papua New Guinea as part of the world tour before the World Cup in Russia later this year.
