Police in Western Province warn public against illegal alcohol activities

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu urges members of communities in the province against illegal alcohol activities.

PPC Lenialu says, “On 4 May 2018, my officers at Noro Police Station arrested and charged two men for alleged brewing alcohol without authorization from the Minister responsible for Liquor License. Both men were released on bail to appear in the Gizo Magistrate Court at a later date.”

He adds: “About 400 litres of kwaso were confiscated by police at two separate locations in Noro Town. The rough estimate of the quantity of alcohol seized if sold in the local market is around $50,000.00.

“My officers will continue to respond to any illegal alcohol activities and any alleged criminal activities in the Western Province and people should refrain from such illegal activities,” says Chief Superintendent Lenialu.

He says, “I appeal to people in the province to report to police any alleged activities for investigation and also appropriate action can be taken against perpetrators, to face the law.”

He adds: “I encourage members of the public in the Western Province to consider involving in other lawful business or activities rather than involve in illegal alcohol activities.”
