RSIPF to work together with community on Mono

Police in Western Province are working together with the community on Mono Island in the Shortland’s to look at ways in which a police officer could be reposted to the Island.

This was after the Officer who was posted at the Mono Police Post left the Post after he was threatened along with his family.

“The police officer who was posted to Mono Police Post left with his family after he was threatened and a case has been established for investigations,” says Provincial Police Commander Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu.

He adds: “The Officer left with his family in May this year and has since taken his annual leave. A replacement was identified, but due to the continuous bad weather in the area we have been unable to send the officer to Mono.”

“We have talked with the chief at Mono to work together with the Police should there be any issues that might arise during the absence of police,” says PPC Lenialu.

He adds: “In the mean time I urge the people of Mono to work together with their community leaders and chiefs. We will try to post an officer on Mono as soon as possible.”

PPC Lenialu explains, “Police officers are in our communities to help us; therefore we must work together with them. Work with our Police officers for the good of our communities.”
