The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki have arrested and charged a 24 year-old male suspect following a murder incident at North Malaita province over the weekend. Police allege the incident occurred on Saturday evening until Sunday morning, where a man in his 40’s was stabbed and later died at a nearby clinic. The death of the man then led to the burning down of 30 dwelling houses, both permanent and semi-permanant buildings, at Foufanea village, Suava bay area.The accused who is in custody at Auki police station had surrendered himself to police, after he escaped for his safety from his attackers and is now in police custody. Police have been on the scene mediating the matter which has calmed the situation and the community returned to normalcy, as it carried out its investigation.
