The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has denied claims made in Solomon Star newspaper which is published on 7 June 2022 with the title “Police Executive ‘hijacked’ Atu’s bail release” as misleading.
Director National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Chief Superintendent Leonard Tahnimana, said the claim is false and totally misleading. Mr Knoxley Atu has surrendered to police and was interviewed and formally charged for his involvement in the recent civil unrest that has happened in Honiara between 24 and 26 November 2021.
A 20-year-old male suspect was arrested by Criminal Investigators at Naha Police Station at Borderline bus stop yesterday (1 June 2022).
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Police, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said the suspect was arrested for a stolen mobile phone worth $3,000.00 at a Bangladesh shop at Kukum area on 27 May 2022.
PPC Robo said it is alleged that the suspect walked directly into the shop counter and grabbed the mobile phone on the counter and escaped.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Naha Police Station have arrested a suspect of a break-in incident at the University of South Pacific campus construction site at King George VI on the 22 April 2022.
It was alleged that the suspect entered the USP construction site through the main gate. He walked easily to the main office and opened the sliding window glass, entered the office room, and removed valuable items worth about $30,000.00 dollars plus other stuff like cigarettes and beers.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) continues specialist enhancement training in preparation for the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23), with RSIPF and regional law enforcement partners.
The AFP’s RAPPP design included support to RSIPF as they focused on security planning and major operations over the next two years. This included major events security and the protection and safety of visiting dignitaries attending the PG23 in November 2023.

Re-construction work to replace the Kukum Police Station, which was ransacked and burned during riots in Honiara, last November, will start soon- thanks to the help of the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
AFP, through its partnership program with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) known as the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) will support the RSIPF with the re-construction of the building.
The site, which is currently covered with dirt and fire ashes, will be cleared soon in preparation for the actual construction work on the Station to start.
Two officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been promoted to different senior positions within the organisation. These two officers received their promotion letter during a brief ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (01 June 2022).
Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Mostyn Mangau told the officers, “Your promotions will have its own challenges as you take on the new leadership positions to drive the RSIPF.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team will be conducting an unexploded ordnance (UXO) operations in the Western Province from Tuesday 31 May to Monday 13 June 2022.
The tasks will be carried out in the areas at Nila and Hitou in Shortland Island, Munda, Noro and surrounding communities on New Georgia Island. Ringgi, Jack Harbour and surrounding communities on Kolombangara Island are also places in the operation.
A 37-years-old man was arrested for blocking the airport runway at Gwounaruu in Malaita Province on 28 May 2022.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Lelie Kili said it is alleged that a 37-year-old male person from Gwounaruu village obstructed a Solomon Airlines flight while under the influence of liquor.
PPC Kili said when the plane was ready to go into the runway, the man walked towards the plane and stopped the plane. Auki police were notified, responded and arrested the suspect.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi in Central Province have arrested two suspects following an assault incident that happened at Toa village, small Ngella on 27 May 2022.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent David Soakai says, “The victim and his pregnant wife and their four year old child went to the garden. Whilst the victim was busy brushing his garden the two suspects approached his wife with bush knives in hand threaten the wife and child that they will murder her husband.”
