The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Solomon Islands Financial Intelligence Unit (SIFIU) and Solomon Islands Immigration Division.
The purpose of the MoU is to set out the framework between RSIPF, SIFIU and Immigration Division in relation to cooperation for information exchange and enforcement of Solomon Islands legislation and regulation pertaining to transnational crime.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Western border between Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Solomon Islands (SI) have arrested a 64 years old male person from Sirovai village, Koromira in Central Bougainville for breaching the State of Public Emergency (SoPE) that has been enforced.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Taro Police Station in Choiseul Province are investigating an alleged unlawful damage of Government property at Wagina village. The unlawful damage incident occurred on 8 May 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province Superintendent Vincent Eria explains, “An initial report into the incident alleged that a male person from Araiki village went to the new police post and damaged the main door of the Wagina Police Station.”

Police in Taro, Choiseul Province have arrested a 23-year-old male suspect for raping a 14-year-old girl.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria said the incident occurred on an unknown date between 1 February and 20 April 2022.

PPC Eria said the suspect and the victim of this rape incident are related to each other and they reside at the same village.

Superintendent Eria said the suspect were arrested on 2 May 2022 and Taro police are investigating the rape incident.

Police in Taro, Choiseul Province have arrested a 25-year-old male suspect for attempt rape of a 47-year-old female on 9 May 2022.

It is alleged that the son attempted to rape his mother while she was taking her bath.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has described Solomon Star’s front page article on 9th May titled “Security Pact allows China to Monitor Electronic Devices” as a blunt lie.

Responding to the article, RSIPF categorically rejected the report.

RSIPF’s Deputy Commissioner, Ian Vaevaso, confirmed there are no discussions in the RSIPF around any electronic system that China will provide to track electronic communications.

“The article is a blunt lie,” the Deputy Commissioner boldly stated.

Police at Bellona have arrested three suspects last week in relation to an assault incident that happened at Gongonna village in west Bellona.

First suspect was arrested for assaulting a youth, whilst the other two suspects were arrested for brewing of homebrew.

The incident had happened after a group of drunken youths were involved in a fight as a result one youth sustained some injuries to his upper lips, back head and left arm.

A male person was transported to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) as a result of motor vehicle accident at Bahai, Kukum area in east of Honiara on 1 May 2022.

Director of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Traffic Department Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “The car was travelling in a westerly direction when it accidently do a U-turn in front of the St Nicholas junction and the vehicle ended up at the sea side of the Saru beach.”

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operations Support (NSOS) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Ian Vaevaso has refuted the media reporting on Solomon Star front page yesterday (5 May 2022) has misleading and has no truth.

There is no plan by RSIPF Officers to conduct sit-in protest nor a full-blown strike as a result of the delay of payment for the COVID 19 Allowance to RSIPF officers.
