A male person went fishing still not return home as expected

A male person from Aorigi village in Makira-Ulawa Province who went on a fishing trip on 7 February 2022 did not returned home as expected.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said Kirakira Police has been contacting communities at Santa Anna and communities on the main island of Makira but these communities have not seen the canoe.

PPC Sitai said another attempt was made with Mami and Makorukoru communities in Makira, yet not successful due to poor mobile network coverage in the area.

RSIPF receive OBM from Australian Government

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has received fifty outboard motor engine and fifty boats from Australian Government during a Handing over ceremony held at the Maritime base in Honiara yesterday (3 February 2022)

The new 40 and 60 horse-powered outboard motors will boost the RSIPF’s capability to do remote policing and maritime security capability in all the provinces.

RSIPF officers undergo training in Australia

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers who are currently in Brisbane begin their training conducted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) on 31 January 2022.

Commander Telfer during his opening speech says, “The importance of the long standing relationship between the AFP and RSIPF is that the AFP remains a valued and preferred partner of choice of the RSIPF, shown by committing specialist RSIPF units to long-term world class training in Australia with the AFP.”

RSIPF respond to social-media post in relation to covid-19 outbreak

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) rebutted a social media post claiming that the high number of officers tested positive with COVID-19 was through close interaction with the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) during the civil unrest in November 2021.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “This is not true. Those intervention teams have been tested negative for COVID-19 before they flew to Solomon Islands. They have also tested and have negative results upon their arrival.”

RSIPF reminds public to report any criminal issue occur in the community during covid-19 transmission situation

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) reminds the public who reside within the Emergency Zone from Poha to Aligetor Bridge to report any form of criminal issue occur in the community during COVID-19 transmission situation.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “If you are experiencing criminal Issues such as Theft, Assault, Break-in and domestic violence in your community, please call police or emergency patrols or go to your nearest police station and ask for help.”

RSIPF will enforce new curfew order in Honiara

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will enforce new Curfew Order within the Honiara Emergency zone that will start today 5pm 31 January 2022 and will end on 8am next day on a daily basis.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “Public within the Honiara emergency zone are required to follow this order to control the spread of COVID-19.”

Businesses can be open between 8am and 5pm each day. Only people who are fully vaccinated are allowed to move freely in the Honiara Emergency Zone between 8am and 5pm each day.

RSIPF will enforce curfew in Honiara

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will enforce order on curfew within the Honiara Emergency Zone as of 3pm today, 30 January 2022 and will end on 9am next day on a daily basis until it is revoked.

The order was gazetted by the Solomon Islands Government under Emergency powers Act (Cap. 11) Emergency powers (COVID-19) (No. 3) Regulations 2021 Emergency powers (COVID-19) (Honiara Emergency Zone) Order 2022

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “Public within the Honiara emergency zone are required to adhere and follow this order.”

RSIPF reminds public to take extra care during bad weather

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) reminds members of the public to take extra precautionary measures during the bad weather currently experienced throughout the country.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters. Avoid camping or parking along streams, rivers, and creeks during heavy rainfall. These areas can flood quickly and with little warning.”

“If there is a chance of flash flooding, move immediately to higher grounds. Flash floods can cause weather-related deaths.”

RSIPF urges continues cooperation from public against current situation

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is urging residents of Honiara City and other parts of the country to take a leading role in ensuring their families and people acted responsibly.

RSIPF to enforce order on four-day lockdown in Honiara

Following the legal approval of the four-day lockdown, officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) will deploy officers to their strategic locations within the emergency as of 6pm today 25 January 2022.

Police Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau says, “The lockdown will start at 6pm this evening 25th January 2022 and will finish at 6pm on Saturday 29 January 2022.”
