RSIPF contingents depart to Australia on training purpose

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) contingent, led by Deputy Director of the National Response Department (PRT) Superintendent Lionel Kapisa departed Honiara for Brisbane, Australia today 14 January 2022.

The contingent consists of ten National Response Department (NRD) officers from the Operational Safety Training Team, Armoury, Logistics Team and PRT.

The RAPPP program has been designed in partnership by the Australian Federal Police and RSIPF to ensure the future of the RSIPF is built upon a foundation of quality, independent and sustainable training.

RSIPF arrests 31-year-old male suspect for alleged murder in Makira Ulawa Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira have arrested a 31-year-old male suspect for an alleged murder incident of a 40-year-old male person at Tawaraha Village in Makira Ulawa Province on 17 December 2021.

Supervising Deputy Commissioner Operation, Joseph Manelugu says, “It is alleged that the suspect cut the deceased at the back of his neck with a bush knife. The deceased was rushed to the Tawaraha clinic but died at the clinic.”

Police investigates burning incident in Western Province

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Officers of the Criminal Investigation Division in Gizo are carrying out an investigation in relation to an Arson incident at Vella la Valla in the Western Province on 4 January 2022.

Supervising Deputy Commissioner Operation, Joseph Manelugu says, “The owner of the house went over to another village to spend his new year’s celebration when his house was on fire and burnt down into ashes.”

Deputy Commissioner Manelugu says, “Nobody is yet identified as suspect however investigation into the matter is continuing.

Police arrest second suspect for murder incident in Renbel Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa in Renbel Province have arrested a second suspect in relation to an allegation of murder on the dead of a 37-year-old male on 1 January 2022.

Supervising Deputy Commissioner Operation, Joseph Manelugu says, “During the investigation the suspect was identified and he is now in Tigoa Police Station custody waiting to be transported over to Honiara for further dealings whilst investigation into this matter continues.”

Police arrest a 43-year-old male suspect for store break-in in Western Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Gizo Police Station Criminal Investigations Division (CID) have arrested a 43-year-old male person for store break-in on 6 January 2022.

Initial report said that the suspect allegedly break-in at a shop in Gizo town between 1am and 2am on 6 January 2022 and remove cash and other valuable properties including mobile phones and sleeve of cigarettes
Supervising Deputy Commissioner Operation, Joseph Manelugu says, “The matter was reported to police and the suspect was arrested and placed in police custody.”

RSIPF confirms second dead in relation to bomb blast at Tenaru area

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) has confirmed a second dead in relation to a bomb blast incident on the eastern side of Hells Point, close to Tenaru area on 24 December 2021.

The second person was rushed to the National Referral Hospital after the incident while the other died at the scene. Health authorities confirmed the second adult male person died on 6 January 2022.

RSIPF completed POM training conducted by AFP in Honiara

Police Response Team (PRT) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) completed level three Public Order Management (POM) training, which was conducted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Specialist Tactical Group at Rove police headquarters on 10 January 2022.

Central Response Unit, Guadalcanal Response Unit and Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSII) Emergency Response Group (ERG) also form part of the training.

The training is to simulate real life situations when multiple incidents happening at the same time in different locations.

Missing female adult at sea in Temotu Province safely return home

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Lata in Temotu Province have confirmed that a missing female adult at sea between Nukapu and Pileni safely returned home yesterday 5 January 2022.

Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Mr Stanley Riolo says, “During the police search operation the adult female hid at Makalumu Island. An island between Pileni and Nukapu.”

AC Riolo says, “Information police obtained is that the husband and wife had an argument before her husband left for Pileni and later her wife left behind her husband on 30 December 2021.”

Police arrests a 15-year-old female for burning down a dwelling house in Central Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi Police Station have arrested a 15-year-old female for burning down a dwelling house at Salavo village in Central Province on 4 January 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai says, “An initial report on the incident said that the suspect went to the victim’s dwelling house and lit a fire on the walling while the victim was sleeping.”

PPC Soakai says, “Victim woke up and saw her house was on fire so she ran outside while her house burned to the ground.”

RSIPF investigates bomb explosion in Guadalcanal Province

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have responded to a report of an explosion incident, which occurred at Mbarana area, North West Guadalcanal on 4 January 2021.

Initial reports said that the explosion occurred approximately 320m from the Mbarana Community. It is likely that a fire had been set over a bomb, which causes the explosion. Trees and vegetation in the area of explosion were also cleared off by the blast.
