A joint operation between Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) executed a search warrant and confiscated alleged looted items buried behind Panatina village yesterday (5 December 2021).
The joint operation was initiated to target offenders alleged to be involved in the looting and theft of machinery and tools from hardware stores in the Ranadi industrial and commercial district.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wishes to advise the general public in Honiara City and Guadalcanal Province, that the Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Christopher Laore has signed a liquor ban order to be enforced from 6 – 7 December 2021.
The Liquor Ban Order (N0.309) 2021, was signed on 4 December 2021 by the Minister for Home Affairs, and is made under section 82 (1) of the Liquor Act (cap 144).
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) warns social media users especially on Facebook to be mindful with what they are posting regarding the recent riot.
Commissioner of Police, Mostyn Mangau says, “Some people are posting provoking statements that might cause hatred and anxiety among the communities. Police will not hesitate to arrest anyone who posts inflammatory comments that are likely to exacerbate the current situation.”
Commissioner Mangau says, “There was a post made on the social media that every Malaitans is on the list for arrest.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention Mr Simpson Pogeava of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) made a brief visit to Chinatown and walked through the main streets of Honiara on 3 December 2021.
The walk through is jointly conducted by the Operation Commander of RSIPF and the Contingent Commander of the Solomon’s International Assistance Force [SIAF] Paul Osborne along with the Commander RAPPP.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is appealing to the leader of opposition to stop interfering with police investigation.
Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “It is unfortunate that the leader of opposition Mr Mathew Wale attempted to question an ongoing investigation by police in the media. Issues raised by Honorable Wale are legal issues that are best dealt with by the court.”
Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) warns all vessels berthing at the domestic wharf in Point Cruz, Honiara that there will be restriction on vessels going out and coming in as of 5 December 2021.
This also includes small banana boats that use to travel to and from our islands.
Commander Paul Osborne of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Australia Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) was today (3 December 2021) sworn in as Deputy Commissioner of the RSIPF to oversee the Solomon International Assistance Force to Solomon Islands.
Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said: “As the Commissioner of RSIPF I am appointing Mr. Paul Osborne of the RSIPF/AFP partnership program to be an authorized officer to assist the RSIPF in the performance of its functions under section 27 (1), and Section 32(2) of the police Act 2013.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is appealing to the public to stay away from and out of Chinatown and other burnt down infrastructure in the Ranadi area.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ms Juanita Matanga said this would help so that important forensic police work could take place, and a clean-up of the affected areas, which are contaminated with hazardous materials, could to commence safely.
DC Matanga said citizens should avoid these areas if they have no reason to be in the area due to risks to public health and safety.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commend communities of west Honiara and Kakabona area for the great support rendered during the unrest faced in Honiara last week.
Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said: “I appreciate those who have shown support especially in Honiara, for working together with police officers protecting other parts of our town during the riot and looting.”
The curfew that was enforced by the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF), which the Governor-General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency, has signed into effect a Declaration under the Preservation of Public Security Act and subsequent Regulations giving effect to the Declaration, also applies to all sea travellers who come in and out of Point Cruz Harbor.
