Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara today (16 November 2021) farewelled their colleague officer the late Police Inspector Silas Sario Tuaviri during a funeral service at the Holy Cross Cathedral after he passed away on 12 November 2021.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi Police Station in Central Province have arrested four male suspects aged between 22 to 64 -year-old for malicious damage and criminal trespass at the Siota Provincial Secondary School on 11 November 2021.

Initial reports said that the suspects were drunk when they unlawfully entered the school compound and damaged several staff houses and staff properties while they were sleeping. The suspects also damage the water tank which supplies water for the whole school during the incident.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 21-year-old male person for damaging an Automated Teller Machine (ATM), which is owned by the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited at Chinatown recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent Jimson Robo says that it will be alleged in court that around 1 am in the morning the suspect and his spouse ended up at Chinatown arguing.

An accused person has served for two years and one month imprisonment after he pleaded guilty for seven counts related to domestic violence on 22 October 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Temotu Province, Superintendent James Toaki says this is a good decision made by Lata Magistrates’ Court on such issues.

PPC Toaki says the accused was arrested and charged for seven counts. He appeared before the court with two counts for assault causing actual bodily harm and five counts for domestic violence.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira Police Station in Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating a sudden death incident of a male person in his 30s on 4 November 2021.

Initial reports said that the deceased climbed a tree purposely to collect fruit leaf (korokua) for chewing betel nut. Suddenly the deceased fell off from the top of the tree and landed on the ground. While on the ground, the deceased called for help.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have rescued three male persons who have been accused of a sorcery incident at Veravaolu village on 17 October 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says, “Initial report stated that the suspects will be kept for safety purposes and waiting for reconciliation to be done by parties of the deceased and the suspects.”

A 27-year-old female was arrested and charged by White River Police for common nuisance at laundry valley in West Honiara on 7 November 2021.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “The female accused has been playing loud music causing disturbance to nearby houses and was approached by two officers asking her to turn the music low or stop the music but she refused.”

A female defendant aged 20 has pleaded guilty for using abusive words to police officers before a sitting Magistrate in the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 8 November 2021.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander Honiara City Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “The defendant was found guilty for the offence and sentenced to six month bound over with good behaviour.”

On 5 November 2021, the defendant was drunk and walked past the White River Police Station with two male persons. The defendant shouted and swore at officers who were on duty during that time.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team are continuing their investigation in relation to the explosion that took two lives on 25 October 2021.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of the EOD team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “It is possible that it is a type of demolition charge referred to as a Bangalore torpedo. Although none of the measurements taken from Japanese and US, technical manuals match this particular item. At this stage we are not confirming anything, but we are investigating.”
