Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Honiara City Central Police Station successfully conducted “Operation Wakabaot” in the capital city on 11 March 2021.

The operation involved officers from the Central Police Station and officers from the Fire and Rescue Service. During the Operation, officers conducted foot patrols covering commercial areas, shops, the Honiara Central Market, Government offices, residential sites and other public compounds.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Yandina Police Station in Central Province have benefited from a one-day training on case management and introduction to new charges conducted at the Station on 6 March 2021.

Advisor Andie Driu and officer Florence Iroshaki from Police Prosecutions in Honiara conducted the training.

Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Yandina Police Station Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “The training will enable our investigators to know how to properly manage case files and how to use the new charge sheets for offences.”

The roll out of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Crime Prevention Strategy in communities in the Makira Ulawa Province is progressing well.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “In my briefing for the Premier of Makira Ulawa Province. Hon Julian Maka’a on 8 March 2021, I updated him on the Crime Prevention Strategy and the implementation of the Strategy in the villages throughout the Province.”

A male person in his late 20s died as the result of motor vehicle accident near the Iron Bottom Sound (IBS) Hotel in west Honiara on 6 March 2021 after the vehicle hit a tree on the side of the road.

As the captain gave his final salute and family members waved to the crew, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Vessel (RSIPV) left the wharf at the Mbokona Bay Patrol Boat base in Honiara for final time before midday today (8 March 2021) after serving the country for 30 successful years.

The RSIPV AUKI was farewelled with a sail past including the RSIPV GIZO, several RSIPF Maritime stabi-crafts and the Australian navy vessel the HMAS Maitland in the Point Harbour area.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Gizo Police Station in Western Province have arrested and charged a 15-year-old male suspect for allegedly breaking into a store at Gizo on 27 February 2021.

An initial report on the alleged incident alleged said the suspect was drinking beer at the Gizo Hotel on the night of the incident. Between 4 am and 5 am the accused went to the store concerned and allegedly climbed the gate and entered the store. He allegedly removed some properties and cash.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fraud Squad Unit within the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara have arrested and charged a 30-year-old male a former public servant for alleged fraud.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force at the Gizo Police Station in Western Province have arrested 20 suspects for alleged unlawful assembly and criminal trespass at the Kurikuri camp of the Shalom Company Limited in Western Province on 25 February 2021.

An initial report says the suspects, who claim to be landowners, entered into the Kurikuri Sarapaito logging concession area on Vella la Vella Island and threatened company workers. During that time, the suspects ordered the company to stop the hauling operations and demanded the Company to pay compensation.
