The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (8 January 2021) farewelled Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) advisor Nick Chubb after serving one year with the program.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau acknowledged and greatly appreciate the service rendered by SIPDP advisor Chubb during his one year in Solomon Islands.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station have arrested another suspect in relation to Winwin robbery incident in Central Guadalcanal on 6 January 2021.

A 34-year-old suspect was arrested at the China town bus stop while he on his way to work in the evening. The suspect is from Lau in Malaita Province who residing in Central Honiara.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki are investigating a wounding incident of a passenger who boarding a transport to Atori in East Malaita on 5 January 2021.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Inspector Michael Ramosaea says, “The incident was happen along the east road to Atori at the night on the 5 December 2021.”

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers serving the common border between Solomon Islands (SI) and Papua New Guinea (PNG) have visited and conducted awareness talk at Toumoa Village in the Shortland Islands on 3 January 2021.

The visit and awareness talk has been conducted by officers based at Kariki Police Post under the leadership of Constable Singstone Rilalo following request from the community leaders on the risk of marijuana, kwaso (Homebrew) and illegal sale of liquor in the communities.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson have arrested third and fourth suspect in relation to Winwin robbery incident in Central Guadalcanal.

The third suspect was arrested on the 31 December 2020 at Aligetor Creek in East of Honiara and the fourth suspect was arrested at Tanatita Village in Central Guadalcanal on 2 January 2021.

The third suspect is a 27-years-old male person from Malaita and the fourth suspect is a 42-year-old male person from Central Guadalcanal.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Noro Police Station in Western Province are investigating a traffic accident resulting in the death of an adult male person at Kokosu highway road in Noro Town on 27 December 2020.

Initial report said that a 23-year- old male person was driving a taxi in the early hours of 27 December 2020, when he allegedly run over the victim. The driver immediately response and help the victim inside his car and rush him to Noro clinic for medical attention.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province this morning (28 December 2020) have arrested a 29-year old male suspect in relation to an alleged robbery incident at the Winwin mining company operating in Central Guadalcanal.

It is alleged that the suspect is among the seven men that drives the G-plated white plain Toyota land cruiser when entered the Winwin mining company on the 9 December 2020.

The total number of criminal incidences reported to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) so far has shown an increase of 235 cases over the number of incidences reported during last year 2019.

Last year 8,083 cases were reported to the RSIPF while so far this year 8,318 has been reported to police. Solomon Islands has an estimated population of 800,000 people.

These are all the incidences reported through HRC here at the Rove Police Headquarters from Honiara City and all the other provinces. Any incident that was not reported through HRC is not recorded.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department in Honiara are mounting an operation to provide road safety to all road users in the nation’s capital during the Christmas and New Year festive season.

Supervising Director of the National Traffic Department Inspector Doreen Vaea says, “During the festive season traffic officers will be on our roads to ensure that our road users comply with the traffic laws. Police will not tolerate any breach of traffic laws by any road user within Honiara.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa in the Rennell Bellona Province are conducting a festive season operation to maintain law and order for a safe and peaceful celebration for people in that Province.

The Festive operation will include:
• Traffic checks;
• Maintenance of high visibility in and around the communities;
• Monitoring disturbances within the villages;
• Assisting COVID 19 awareness programme; and
• Other related policing duties.
