Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) National Traffic Department recorded 18 traffic incidences during the period 30 October to 5 November 2020 in Honiara compared to the previous week when only 10 cases were reported.
Complainants reported three of the cases while officers of the National Traffic Department reported 15 cases.
Members of the public living in coastal communities in the Western, Choiseul, Isabel, Malaita and Renbel Provinces have been advised to look out for an Indonesian registered vessel the Metro Teratari that has entered Solomon Islands territorial waters through the western border with Papua New Guinea without the approval of the authorities.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Ian Vaevaso says, “The vessel had applied to the Solomon Islands Government’s COVID-19 Oversight Committee to enter the country but no approval was granted.
A total of nine officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have graduated with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) International Mine Action Standard level one training course today (6 November 2020) at Hells Point, East of Honiara.

Fire and Rescue Services of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have provided firefighting training for staff of the Regional Eye Centre (REC) in Honiara on 4 November 2020.
Training Officer of the Fire and Rescue Services Inspector Fredy Pelebo says, “It was a basic Fire Safety and Emergency training conducted by RSIPF Fire and Rescue Services for the Regional Eye Centre (REC) at the National Referral Hospital compound in Honiara.”

Conferencing facilities at the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Headquarters in Honiara have been upgraded after receiving a $135,000 microphone conferencing system from the Australian Government through the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP)

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Sexual Assault Team in Honiara arrested and charged a 23-year-old man on 29 October for alleged sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in West Honiara on 20 October 2020.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Patricia Leta says, “The defendant who was reportedly drank at the time arrived home and approached the victim. He then carried the victim to his house where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.”
The Sexual Assault Team (SAT) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested and charged a 38-year-old male person for allegedly raping a 11-year-old girl at Tuvaruhu in Central Honiara on 28 October 2020.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Patricia Leta says, “The defendant in this alleged rape incident is from the Reef Islands, Temotu Province and is an uncle of the victim. The defendant lived with the victim’s family in the Tuvaruhu area during the time of the alleged offence.”
