Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira in Makira Ulawa Province have arrested and charged a male suspect in his 30s for an alleged incident of grievous harm following an incident at Tawatana Village, West Makira on 15 August 2020.
It is alleged that the suspect struck another male person with a bush knife on his right wrist. The alleged incident followed a previous incident during which the victim allegedly killed the suspect’s dog.
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is monitoring a group of youth in Honiara who are believed to be involved in what has been termed as the ‘Bloods and Crips Young Stars’ in Honiara over the past couple of weeks.
RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “Police is warning the youth involved in this group in Honiara or anywhere in the country not to be involved in any activity that will disturb the peace and cause threat to the security of our nation.”
The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo thanks the good people of Honiara for their support during his term as PPC since 2018.
PPC Riolo says, “Things happen when we work together. Without the support of members of the public, we would not have achieved what we have with policing in the capital city. The support you have given on numerous occasions have made policing in our communities much easier. Without your support, policing will be a challenging job for me and my officers.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) calls on the Ohwa and Manaoru tribes in East Kwaio in Malaita Province to resolve the land dispute between themselves in a peaceful manner.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent William Foufaka says, “The issue of the land dispute has been outstanding for some time and if the tribes cannot resolve the dispute then who else will do it. We need to take leadership of the issue and resolve it amicably.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Honiara City Central Police Station mounted a successful raid at the Karaina settlement in West Honiara confiscating 2,000 litres of kwaso valued about $10,000.00 on 13 August 2020.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Chief Suptintendent Stanley Riolo says, “The raid is part of an ongoing crime prevention strategy to curb the increasing trend of antisocial activities from the consumption of the illegal substance in the capital.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Taro have arrested a 34-year-old male suspect for assaulting a victim at Malengari Village in Choiseul Province on 16 August 2020.
The assault incident occurred on 13 August 2020.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The male person was allegedly drunk and assaulted the complainant and also damaged the complainant properties.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Yandina, Russel Islands Central Province are investigating the death of a 40-year-old male person in an incident involving an out board motor yesterday (13 August 2020) afternoon.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) National Traffic Department have recorded 20 traffic incidences in the period 7 to 13 July 2020 in Honiara compared to the previous week when only eight cases were reported.
This is an increase of 17 cases.
Complainants reported four cases while officers of the National Traffic Department reported 16 cases.
The 20 incidences included:
• Five cases each for careless driving and presence of alcohol in person’s blood;
• Three cases for using unlicensed motor vehicle;
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) National Traffic Department in Honiara are investigating an accident on the main road near the Honiara Central Market on 8 August 2020.
Deputy Commissioner Ian Vaevaso says, “Information from witnesses at the scene say that a Toyota Land Cruiser veered off the west bound lane, breaking the median stripe fence and was at a stationary position in front of the Central Market Plaza, facing in the westerly direction on the east bound lane.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Serious Crime Unit in Honiara are investigating the suspicious death of a one year and six months old baby at the Boeboe logging camp on Small Malaita on 30 June 2020.
Deputy Commissioner Ian Vaevaso says, “An initial report about the incident says the deceased was with the house girl at the Boeboe logging camp area when some Asian employee of the Global Logging Company arrived at the camp carrying the body of the deceased.”
