Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Malu’u and Auki police station have arrested two male suspects for the allegation of murder.

The arrest has been done after one of the suspects allegedly stabbed the victim (deceased) with a knife on his left shoulder.

The incident occurred early in the morning on 5 October 2024 at Gounatolo village when they were drinking beer and an argument broke out between them.

The Australian Federal Police has concluded a four-day Gender in Policing training for the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Women’s Advisory Network (PICP WAN) in Honiara last week (3 October).

The training, which marked an important step in advancing gender equality in policing in the region, was attended by WAN chairs from 16 of the 22 PICP member countries.

The theme of the training was "Unity in Action: Embracing Equality through the Blue Pacific".

The National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating a suspicious death of a male person in his 20s whose body has been found at the seaside near Fangs company area at Tandai, in West Honiara on 6 October 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said police investigation revealed that the deceased have injuries on both legs, left hand and upper lips.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) at Taro police station have arrested a 23-year-old male suspect for raping a 15-year-old girl a village in North West Choiseul recently.

It was alleged that the suspect confronted and grabbed the victim using his hand shutting the victim’s mouth and dragged her to a nearby bush and rape her.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Berry Pogesopa said the victim went to their garden and the suspect followed her in a distance.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) at Atori police station have arrested a 58-year-old male suspect for stabbing a 30-year-old male person at Kwai and Ngongosila Island recently.

Police investigation reveals that the drunkard catechist who is the victim provokes the suspect who is also with a group of men and women preparing food for the program at that time. The suspect warns the victim to leave the catering venue but he refuses.

The National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) has arrested a Malaita provincial leader in relation to unlawful assemblies and protests in 2021.

The leader was arrested, along with his then political advisor, on 3 October 2024.

The two suspects were taken into custody for their alleged role in masterminding a number of unlawful assemblies and protests in Auki, Malaita Provincial capital, in 2021.

These unlawful assemblies and protests were carried out by the Malaita for Democracy (M4D).

Taskforce Janus have arrested a 47-year-old male suspect for the allegation of multiple false pretenses and uttering false document charges on 26 September 2024.

The charges relate to alleged conduct that occurred in 2021, 2022 and 2023 which at that time the suspect was a sales manager with Raretech Enterprises, a Honiara based business which supplies ICT equipment and services.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a male teacher in his 40s for having sexual intercourse with his 6-year-old step daughter recently in Makira/Ulawa province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira/Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said, “The shocking incident occurred last month at their family home.”

PPC Sitai said, “The mother went home and found her husband committing the act. The mother took the victim child to Kirakira hospital for medical assistance and had her husband arrested.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira police station have arrested a male suspect in his 30s for a serious injury incident at Rohua village in West Makira recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira/Ulawa province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said, “It was alleged that the suspect and the victim were having a few beers when an argument broke out between them.”

PPC Sitai said, “The argument triggered the suspect to chase the victim and cut him with a bush knife which landed on his chest.”

Fifteen officers of the Correctional Services of Solomon Island (CSSI) are the latest recipients of a 3 days’ workshop on Train the Trainers (TT) last week.

The TT workshop was delivered by New Zealand (NZ) Police under Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP) at Rove Correctional Facility in Honiara.

The workshop focussed on Crime Prevention and Mindset training which has been amended and is fit for purpose for CSSI officers.
