About 23 teachers and 600 students from Vonunu Provincial Secondary School in the Western Province have benefited from a crime prevention awareness talk recently conducted by officers of the National Community Policing Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and advisors under the Solomon Islands Police Support Program (SIPSP).

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been deployed to Lambi, west Guadalcanal today to investigate a land slide which has reportedly covered eight people following the current bad weather affecting the whole country.

Initial reports say eight people including children were covered by the land slide when it washed down to the village from a nearby hill yesterday (12 March 2020). Two dead bodies have already been recovered while the others are still missing.

As part of its preparation to assist should there be a Corona virus outbreak in Solomon Islands, the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is establishing a working committee to have an over-sighting function of the RSIPF Preparedness and Responsive Plan.

RSIPF Acting Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau sys, “The Plan and the Covid-19 Operation Order is to support the whole-of-government response to any potentially high threat and impact of a Corona virus outbreak in Solomon Islands.

A recent three-day Court Circuit at Yandina in the Russell Islands, Central Province heard 22 cases resulting in the conviction and imprisonment of four suspects after being found guilty on various charges.

The Court Circuit held by a Magistrate, police prosecutors from Yandina, a court clerk and a lawyer from the Public Solicitor’s Office was conducted from 3 to 5 February 2020.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Taro Police Station have arrested three suspects between 24-30 years old for allegedly assault causing bodily harm to a 29-year-old man on Taro Island in Choiseul Province on 7 March 2020.

It is alleged that the three suspects attacked the victim using their close fists and as a result, the victim sustained injuries to his lips for which he got few stitches at the Taro Hospital.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station in the Makira Ulawa Province have arrested a 29-year- old husband for allegedly causing grievous harm to his wife’s private part with a pair of scissors at Herenigau Village, West Makira on 2 March 2020.
It is alleged that the husband get angry when his 20-year-old wife admitted to having had sexual intercourse with another man in the same village.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station in the Makira Ulawa Province have arrested a man in his 40s for allegedly causing grievous harm to his wife at Maniate Village in east Makira on 20 February 2020.

It is alleged that the husband seriously wounded his wife with a bush knife during an argument with his wife at their village in Maniate.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station in Makira Ulawa Province have arrested a 45-year-old man following the alleged sexual assault of his 15-year-old daughter at Nagau Village in east Makira last year 2019.

An initial report says the defendant father allegedly had sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent on two separate occasions at Nagau Village on unknown dates last year.
