Work is now underway to extend berthing space for patrol boats of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Maritime Aola Base in Honiara with the construction of a dolphin wharf funded by the International Division of the Australian Defence Force as part of the Defence Cooperation Program (DCP).

The overseas company, McConnell Dowell is constructing the dolphin wharf with assistance from some local companies.

More than100 representatives of communities in Hograno, Gao and Bugotu districts in Isabel Province will benefit from two workshops on the Crime Prevention Strategy organised by officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Buala Police Station from 20 – 24 January 2020.

An officer of the Isabel Provincial Government Community Affairs Division assisted the RSIPF officers at the Buala Police station during the two workshops.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in Malaita Province have arrested a 57-year-old man for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter in the Kware area, west Fataleka Malaita Province.

Information obtained by police say that on three occasions at different dates during 2018 and 2019 while the mother of the victim was on holiday, the defendant would enter into the victim’s room while she was asleep, with a kitchen knife and persuaded her to have sex with him.

As part of the operation, ‘Clirem Traffic’ Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kukum Traffic Centre have started controlling traffic at the Honiara Central Market and various other locations in the capital city as from today ( 29 January 2020)

Supervising Director Kukum Traffic Centre, Inspector Doreen Vaea says, “Traffic officers have started implementing the operation plans to make sure a safe and smooth flow of travel for all road users including emergency vehicles, public buses, pedestrians and vehicles in the area of operation.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki are investigating a traffic accident involving a Toyota RAV 4 and a Toyota surf vehicle on 25 January 2020 on the Kakobau main road in Auki Malaita province.

The Toyota RAV 4 was travelling in the northerly direction on the west bound lane at a very high speed when it collided with the Toyota surf that was travelling in the southerly direction at a lower speed on the same lane.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kukum Traffic Centre in Honiara will be conducting traffic controls at different locations in the capital city starting from tomorrow (29 January 2020).

Supervising Director Kukum Traffic Centre, Inspector Doreen Vaea says, “The aim of the traffic operation is to ensure the safe and easy flow of traffic throughout the Mendana Avenue area near the Honiara Central Market and enforce the Traffic Act.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa Police Station have arrested two suspects in their 30s following the fatal stabbing today (26 January 2020) of an Indonesian national employed by the Bintang Mining Company operating on Rennell Island.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Mr Joseph Manelugu says, “It is alleged the deceased had an argument with two locals from Rennell and as result one of the locals stabbed the victim on his forehead.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station have arrested and charged a-30-year-old man for the selling of liquor without a license at Parego Village in East Makira on 21 January 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “Police managed to confiscate 59 cartons of beer with thousands of dollars in hard cash. The cash and cartons of beer will remain under police custody as exhibits until the Court decides on what to do.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi have arrested a male suspect in his 40s following an alleged attempted rape on a 20-year-old female at Sesepi Village, Savo Island, in Central Province on 7 January 2020.

Information received by Police say that on the morning of 7 January 2020, the suspect, who is an uncle of the victim, asked her to follow him into the bush away from the main village to collect some betel nut fruits.

Members of the family of a 16-year-old boy who allegedly committed suicide have accepted the cause of death of their son at Koda Village in the Paru area of North West Guadalcanal on 21 January 2020.

Information received by police revealed that prior to the death of the young boy, his father noticed his son’s action to be different from usual. In the afternoon prior to his death, the deceased asked his mother twice to use her mobile phone but her mother instead stopped him to make calls in the presence of his sister due to custom.
