The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has appealed to chiefs and other community leaders in Western Province to cooperate with the Render Safe 19 Operation underway in some parts of that Province to clear unexploded bombs left since the Second World War.
Ten officers of the RSIPF’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) and officers of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) are jointly carrying out the operation which started on Thursday 24 October and will end on 9 November 2019.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have participated in a two-day workshop on Regional Disaster Management Forum at the Heritage Park Hotel from 23-24 October 2019 in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Director National Emergency Management and Special Events Planning (NEMSEP) Inspector Brian Kama says, “Ten RSIPF participants attended the workshop and they are officers from NEMSEP, Police Maritime, Fire and Rescue Service, the Police Response Team (PRT), Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) and Forensics.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 30-year-old male suspect for injuring a 19-year-old male person at Fini Village in the Baegu-Asifola, Malaita Province on 23 October 2019.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 20-year-old male suspect for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl at Liwe Village on Small Malaita on 18 October 2019.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has formally announced the appointment of three newly promoted officers into the RSIPF’s Executive during the Commissioner’s weekly parade at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (24 October 2019).
The officers are Mr Mostyn Mangau who is promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner, and Mr Ian Bara and Ms Evelyn Thugea who are promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner.
The promotions were recently approved by the Police & Prison Services Commission (PPSC).

The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Supervising of Makira-Ulawa Province, Inspector Jerry Muaki has warned public in that Province not to take the law into their own hands.
Supervising PPC Muaki explains: “On Sunday 13 October 2019, a group of people from Santa Anna Island allegedly attacked Pisuga Village, Star Harbour, East Makira damaging and looting properties, set fire to a dwelling house and a kitchen and other valuable properties including a Lucas Saw Mill.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Police Response Team (PRT) have responded to a crocodile incident in Roviana Lagoon in Western Province and killed six crocodiles in an operation conducted from 8 - 11 October 2019.
The operation was conducted after a man was killed by a crocodile while diving for trochus near Belo Belo Island on 2 September 2019.
A request was sent to police to attend to the report and on 9 October 2019, a team of officers travelled from Honiara to the Western Province.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force have arrested an adult male person for allegedly raping a 7-year-old girl at the National Museum area in Central Honiara on 15 October 2019.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Stanly Riolo says, “My officers formally arrested the suspect yesterday (15 October 2019) and placed him in police custody as the investigation continues.”
“It is a sad incident that happened during the International Rural Women’s Day commemoration held at the National Museum in Honiara.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi, Central Province have arrested six suspects in relation to a burning incident at Bola Village in Big Ngela on 12 October 2019.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “Police received information that a group of boys from Bola Village were drunk and allegedly burnt down part of a dwelling house. The incident occurred at around 6.30am on Saturday 12 October.”
More than 7,000 people in the Gao and Bugotu District of Isabel Province will benefit from a new police post which has been opened at Tatamba today (10 October 2019).
The official opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. Anthony Veke, the Member of Parliament for Gao and Bugotu Constituency Hon.
