Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Sexual Assault Unit have arrested and charged a 27-year-old male on 7 October 2019 for an allegation of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in West Honiara.

It is alleged that on 14 July 2019, the victim was fast asleep in her bedroom at her home in the Mbokona area of West Honiara when the defendant entered into the house and sexually assaulted her.

The 9-year-old victim told her parents about what happened and the matter was reported to police on 22 July 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Gizo, Western Province have arrested a male person on 8 October 2019 at the Gizo market after receiving information from a member of the community that he had dried marijuana (Indian hemp) in his possession.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have uprooted more than 1500s marijuana plants near Kolona Village in North East Guadalcanal during an operation carried today (8 October 2019).

Team Leader of the Central Response Unit (CRU), Sergeant Loginor Waiparo says, “This was a joint operation between CRU and police at Tetere in North Guadalcanal.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have confiscated 1,000 litres of kwaso in the Waste Water area of Noro in Western Province during a raid this morning (7 October 2019)

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “Police at Noro conducted an early morning raid today and confiscated more than 1000 litres of kwaso in the Waste Water area.”

The awareness talk was held for the public to be aware of their safety and how Police and public can work together in carrying out Law and order by reporting those breaching our laws.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested two suspects for selling homebrew (kwaso) at Tulagi in Central Province on 6 October 2019.

A 13-year-old girl and a 30-year-old male person were arrested at a private resident in Tulagi following information received from the community in the early hours of Sunday 6 October.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Traffic Department have arrested and charged 27 accused for various traffic offences in Honiara for the period 20 to 26 September 2019.

Ten people were arrested for careless driving, eight arrested for presence of alcohol in a person’s blood, five for unlicensed motor vehicle, three for driving without a valid driving license and one for permitting unlicensed vehicle
The arrests came about after officers conducted random checks in front of the Kukum Police Station road.

Five accused persons have been convicted during a Court Circuit between 25 and 29 September 2019 in Central Province for different crimes committed.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “During the court circuit three of the accused were convicted while eight of them were remanded at Rove Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSSI) waiting for sentencing on 4 October 2019 at the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating a death incident at Vatubulu Primary School in East Central Guadalcanal on 28 September 2019.

Police Criminal Investigating Officer (PCIO) Guadalcanal Province, Inspector Hughes Nevol says, “On the night of Saturday 28 September 2019, the complainant, deceased and other two boys were consuming alcohol. According to information received, the deceased and the other boys went to smoke close to a sloppy area side about ten meters high when all of a sudden the deceased fell onto the sloppy area.”
