RSIPF investigates alleged infanticide incident in Makira-Ulawa Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Kirakira are investigating an alleged infanticide incident that occurred at a School in East Makira in the Makira-Ulawa Province on 20 August 2019.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province, Inspector Jerry Muaki says, “A report received from a School in West Wainoni, East Makira alleged that a 17-year-old female student killed her baby shortly after giving birth to the baby boy before disposing the body at sea.”

RSIPF investigates burning incident in Malaita Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki are investigating a burning incident at Waisisi Village in West Are’Are, Malaita Province on 26 August 2019.

Operation Manager at the Auki Police Station, Inspector Charles Edwin Koto says, “The report reveals that it was a dwelling house that was burnt down in retaliation to claims of sorcery.”

Inspector Koto says, “People at Waisisi Village saw the house burning so they ran and put off the fire. The fire partly destroyed the semi-permanent house.”

RSIPF Officer recognised internationally.

Inspector Kerry Sireheti is a 37-year-old male officer in the Royal Solomon Islands who hails from Munda in the Western Province and Langalanga in the Malaita Province. He’s the third child in a family of four.

Recently he was awarded an international award by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), 40 under 40 Award winners for 2019. He is part of what has been described as “an incredibly talented, accomplished and dedicated group of individuals who demonstrate leadership and exemplify a deep commitment to the profession”.

32-year-old man arrested for domestic violence in Central Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi, Central Province have arrested and charged a 32- year- old man from Haleta village in West Big Gela on allegations of domestic violence on 27 August 2019.

It will be alleged in Court that in the early hours of 25 August 2019, the accused was drunk, came home to his wife and accused her violently of past issues.

Police arrest 41-year-old man for alleged domestic violence in Central Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi, Central Province have arrested a 41-year-old male person for allegedly assaulting his wife at their home village in Haroro, Sunfly on 19 August 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “Information obtained by the police so far alleged that the suspect was not happy with how his wife shared the meal for dinner so he then grabbed the pot of food and threw it away from the house. He then got hold of a big bush knife and started cutting their belongings.”

RSIPF investigates death of man at Henderson Beach, East of Honiara

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating the possible cause of the death of a 32-year-old man after he swam to rescue his girlfriend at the Henderson Beach, east of Honiara on 25 August 2019.

Provincial Criminal Investigation Officer, Guadalcanal Province Inspector Hughes Nevol says, “Information received so far by police say that the deceased and his girlfriend were consuming alcohol at the Henderson Beach on the night of 24 August when they started arguing with each other.”

Two Malaysians to face charge of alleged attempted murder following incident east of Honiara

Two Malaysian nationals working with the Asian company Samlinsun in Honiara will face charges of attempted murder following an incident at the company’s premises in the Lungga area east of Honiara on 24 August 2019.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Operation Manager Guadalcanal Province on Inspector Edwin Sevoa says, “Police at the Henderson Police Station were called to an incident at the Samlinsun area in Lungga on the afternoon of 24 August 2019.”

RSIPF arrests second suspect following arson incident in Renbel Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a second suspect a suspect in connection with the burning of two buildings at Tigoa in West Rennell, in the Rennell and Bellona Province on the night of 25 July 2019.

The second suspect, a 21-year-old male person was arrested at Tigoa in the evening of 23 August 2019. The first suspect, a 29-year-old male person was arrested in the morning of the same day.

The two suspects have been flown to Honiara yesterday (25 August) for further processing and remand as investigations into the incident continues.

RSIPF participates in Exercise Coastwatchers 2019

About 60 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will participate in the Exercise Coastwatchers 2019 which will be conducted within the vicinities of Choiseul and Western Provinces with officers of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) from today (26 August) to 5 September 2019.

39 year-old arrested for brewing kwaso in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in Honiara City have arrested and charged a 39 year-old woman for an allegation of brewing kwaso at Aekafo, Vara Creek in Central Honiara on 23 August 2019.

The accused and his nephew, a 30 year-old male were taken by surprise when police officers raided their home and arrested the accused.
