Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are continuing to investigate the alleged rape of two juveniles in Honiara with the adult male suspect being further remanded in custody.

Acting Director of the RSIPF National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), Inspector Michael Bole says, “Our investigation into the alleged rape of the two juveniles by their biological father in Honiara is continuing.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Choiseul Province have arrested four people during the period 23 – 28 May 2019 following four cases being reported to police at the Taro Police Station.

RSIPF Provincial Police Commander (PPC) in Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “Four people were arrested in Choiseul Province from a period 23 – 28 May 2019 following four cases being reported to Taro Police Station for attendance.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Prosecution Department has sent 77 cases to Court for hearing during the period 17 – 23 May 2019.

Director of the RSIPF Prosecution Department, Chief Superintendent John Rove says, “Out of the total 77 cases, six people were convicted during the past week in the Honiara Central Magistrates Court, resulting in fines, while one was dismissed under section 35 of the Penal Code, without punishment.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tulagi Police Station in Central Province benefited from a two-day Strategic Planning training that was conducted this week.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “From 27 -28 May 2019 my officers at Tulagi attended a Strategic Planning training, which was conducted by Sergeant Polycarp Taloania of the RSIPF Strategic Planning Department.”

An Adult man has been ordered to pay a total fine of $3,050 for multiple traffic charges at the Honiara Magistrate Courts on 22 May 2019.

The defendant was charged with three counts under the Road Transport Act, including presence of alcohol in person’s blood, driving unlicensed motor vehicle and driving uninsured motor vehicle.

Assistant Commissioner Crime and Intelligence, AC Ian Vaevaso warns, “Traffic offences carry hefty fines if found guilty.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Gizo in the Western Province played a friendly soccer match with a team from Saeraghi community on 21 May 2019 as part of the community engagement program.
Saeraghi scored two goals to one against Gizo police.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The program involved youth and members of the community.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will conduct bomb blasting at one of the Russell Islands in the Central Province on Saturday 25 May 2019.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of the RSIPF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “Six operators from the EOD will travel tomorrow (24 May 2019) to the Russell Islands to destroy five World War II bombs which have been discovered by locals at a reef off Elephant Island.”

A 20-year-old man has been remanded at the Lata Correctional Service Solomon Islands Centre in Temotu Province on a charge of alleged rape and will appear in the Lata Magistrates Court on 29 May 2019.

Investigators of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) arrested an adult male person in Honiara on 17 May 2019 on an allegation of unlawful assembly.

RSIPF Assistant Commissioner of Crime Intelligence, Ian Vaevaso says, “My investigators from the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) last Friday 17 May arrested an adult male person for unlawful assembly pursuant to section 74 of the Penal Code.”
