RSIPF continues to deploy officers to common border with PNG

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) continues to deploy some of its officers from Honiara to the Shortlands as part of the border security to assist officers in the Western Province.

RSIPF Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations, Alfred Uiga says, “I have directed some Police Respond Team (PRT) officers to be deployed to the Shortlands in Western Province yesterday and today to assist officers in that Province as part of the security at the common border with Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.

RSIPF investigates suspicious death of a 50-year- old man in Malaita Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating the suspicious death of a 50-year-male whose body was found on 17 May 2019 along the bush road leading up to Haukona Village, in West Are'are in Malaita Province.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Mr Ian Vaevaso says, “On late Friday 17 May 2019, my Office was briefed about the incident. A team of investigators was send to the area during the weekend to carryout investigation."

Two men convicted for illegally crossing the SI-PNG border

The Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Choiseul Province Superintendent Vincent Eria welcomes the court decision by the Taro Magistrates Court which convicted two men, 42 and 44 years old, for illegal border crossing on 13 May 2019.

PPC Eria says, “I welcome the Taro Magistrates Court ruling on 13 May 2019 that two adult men from Solomon Islands were convicted on illegal border crossing from Solomon Islands (SI) territory into Papua New Guinea (PNG) territory early last month.”

RSIPF mounts operation for first meeting of the 11th Parliament

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will mount an operation to provide security at the National Parliament for the first meeting of the 11th Parliament in Honiara tomorrow (15 May 2019).

RSIPF Assistant Commissioner (AC) for National Operations, Mostyn Mangau says,
“We expect the operation to go ahead smoothly as I do not see any trouble happening like what happened on 24 April after the election of the Prime Minister. But should anything happen, the RSIPF is ready to deal with it.”

“Business as usual in Honiara” - RSIPF

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wishes to advice the general public especially in Honiara that its “business as usual” this week as the first meeting of the 11th Parliament convenes tomorrow (15 May 2019) and the High Court continues with the hearing of the case between Hon. Matthew Wale and Hon. Manasseh Sogavare on 17 May 2019.

Police arrest former inmate in Temotu Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Lata in Temotu Province, have arrested a man in his late 30s at the Bimbir area, Santa Cruz Island this week for allegedly destroying peoples’ properties and threatening.

Temotu Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent James Toaki says, “My officers made the arrest after we received reports from t members of the public that a man was going around allegedly destroying people’s gardens, threatening others and taking whatever he wants.”

Solomon Islands Chinese Association thanks RSIPF

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force today (7 May 2019) received a commendation letter from the Solomon Islands Chinese Association (SICA) and a plaque thanking the RSIPF for the exceptional service in April 2019.

The plaque which reads, ‘To the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) In Recognition of Exceptional Leadership and Dedicated Service To the Chinese Community April 2019, Thank You from Solomon Islands Chinese Association.’ It was received by Commissioner Matthew Varley and Deputy Commissioner, Gabriel Manelusi at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.

RSIPF continues awareness in communities and schools in Honiara

The National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) visited communities and schools in and around Honiara City and parts of Guadalcanal Province last week as part of the reassurance of normalcy after the disturbance following the election of the Prime Minister Election on 24 April 2019.

During the visits officers of NCPD reassured the communities and schools in Honiara and parts of Guadalcanal that the situation after the election of Prime Minister is now back to normal and the public should continue business as normal.
