RSIPF arrests five suspects for alleged robbery in Guadalcanal Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal Province have arrested five suspects on 30 April 2019 for allegedly involved in a robbery report at GPPOl-2 in the Guadalcanal Plains.

Commander of the Police Forward Command Post at Henderson Police Station, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “My officers at Tetere Police Station responded to a report yesterday and overnight which alleged six men armed with bush knives robbed a foreign business man operating in the GPPOL-2 area of North East Guadalcanal.”

RSIPF continues with community awareness in Honiara

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is continuing with its community awareness in settlements in and outside of Honiara following the disturbances by a small group of people after the election of the Prime Minister on 24 April 2019.

“Officers of the National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) are continuing to engage with communities especially East of Honiara to encourage the youth to observe law and order and not to be involved in criminal activities,” says Deputy Commissioner (DC), Operations, Gabriel Manelusi.

RSIPF advises public in Honiara to avoid riots

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) advices members of the public to avoid any rioting as it is a crime.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Crime and Intelligence Ian Vaevaso says, “We are investigating cases of more than 60 people allegedly involved in the disturbance last week in Honiara, and so far 59 people who are currently in custody at the Rove Correctional Service Solomon Islands Centre in relation to the disturbances following the following the election of the new Prime Minister.”

RSIPF reassures general public of Honiara that situation now back to normal

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) reassures the general public in Honiara and business houses that situation is returning to normal.

Commissioner Matthew Varley says “Overnight there were no major disturbances in Honiara. Our police continued to conduct high visibility patrols across the city as a precautionary measure. But the situation was calmer than previous nights. I encourage people residing in Honiara and business houses to feel confident to continue with business as usual.”

RSIPF commends law abiding citizens of Honiara

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commends the majority of people in Honiara who are law abiding citizens including the youth for staying away from the disturbances after the election of the Prime Minister yesterday(24 April).

“I would like to thank the majority of citizens in and around Honiara for observing the rule of law by staying away from the disturbances caused by a very small number of people who illegally staged marches throughout the capital city yesterday,” says Deputy Commissioner (DC), Operation, Gabriel Manelusi.

RSIPF makes 30 arrests in disturbances after election of PM

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has so far arrested more than 30 suspects for offences involved in disturbances in Honiara after the election of the Prime Minister on 24 April 2019.

Police allege certain members of the public decided to take the law into their own hands and marched through some streets in the capital Honiara causing public disturbances, fighting and property damage. Significant damage occurred at the Pacific Casino Hotel and numerous vehicles were also damaged.

RSIPF clarifies presence of officers at Lomlom Airport, Reef Islands

Following a report on SIBC news and on social media about the presence of RSIPF officers at the Lomlom Airport in the Reef Islands, Temotu Province, on 19 April 2019 which accused RSIPF of taking sides in politics, the RSIPF would like to make the following clarification.

RSIPF officers at Manuopo Police Post in the Reef Islands, Temotu Province were made aware of the arrival of an aircraft at the Lomlom airstrip, on the morning of Friday 19 April when people gathered around the station saying they were expecting a chattered flight that morning.

RSIPF arrest man in Malaita Province for allegedly attacking foreign national

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a man in Malaita Province for allegedly attacking a 45-year-old Asian national on 22 April 2019.

It is alleged the Asian man received a knife wound on his back after being attacked by the man Fote logging camp, West Kwara’e in Malaita Province.

Police arrest man for allegedly raping 6-year-old child in Malaita Province

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in Malaita Province arrested an adult male for allegedly raping a female child at Waisisi Village in West Are’Are on 22 April 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says, “Yesterday (22 April) an adult was arrested by my officers after receiving a report about a man allegedly raping a 6-year-old child at Waisisi Village.”
