PPCs and Directors attend NEMSEP presentation

Provincial Police Commanders (PPC) and departmental directors in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been briefed by the Force’s National Emergency Management Special Events Planning (NEMSEP) Department on preparations for the National General Election (NGE) to be held on 3 April 2019.

Deputy Director of NEMSEP, Senior Sergeant (SSgt) Francis Ramoni says, “The presentation this morning (19 February) is aimed at making you aware as PPCs and directors of the template my office is using to draft operation orders for special events, including the coming NGE.”

Man remanded in custody for attempted murder allegation in Western Province

A 32-year-old man has been remanded in custody at the Gizo Correctional Centre in Western Province since on 13 February 2019 in connection with an alleged attempted murder incident.

It is alleged that in the morning of 12 February 2019 at Titiana Village, on Gizo Island, the defendant attacked his wife with a bush knife wounding her on her left arm.

The victim was transported to the Gizo Hospital where she was treated for the injury to her arm.

PPCs to finalise preparations for NGE

Provincial Police Commanders (PPC) from throughout the country are in Honiara to finalise preparations for the National General Election (NGE) to be held on 3 April 2019.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) for Provincial Police, Joseph Manelugu says, “Six Provincial Police Commanders have already arrived inn Honiara with two more still on their way for the PPCs and Directors Conference.”

RSIPF continues with NGE awareness in Honiara

The National Crime Prevention Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) continues with its National General Election (NGE) community engagement visits when officers visited the Wesley United Church in Honiara on 17 February 2019.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime Prevention and National Capital, Simpson Pogeava says, “Today we are here to share with you information concerning the National General Election including the responsibility of voters and the general public, the responsibilities of the RSIPF and the offences and penalties under the Electoral Act.”

Man remanded in custody for alleged electoral offence

A 50-year-old man was remanded in custody on 14 February 2019, after failing to pay his cash bail ordered by the court.

The man was charged with seven counts of Misleading Information under section 113 (2) of the Electoral Act which carries a maximum penalty of $50,000.00 or five years imprisonment or both.

Officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) arrested the man on 12 February 2019 for allegations instituted under the Electoral Act.

RSIPF implement plans to boost communication during NGE 2019

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is implementing plans to boost its communication coverage to all provinces as it prepares for the National General Election (NGE) on 3 April 2019.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention says, “My committee that oversees operations and communications in the planning for the RSIPF operation during the NGE looked at options to ensure RSIPF is able to communicate with at least 80 to 90 percent of the provinces from the base in Honiara.”

RSIPF officers conduct NGE awareness at markets in East Honiara

The National Crime Prevention Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (14 February 2019) visited the Burns Creek and Lungga markets in East Honiara as part of RSIPF awareness program leading up to the National General Election (NGE) which will be held on 3 April 2019.

The community awareness started on 3 February 2019, where officers from the National Crime Prevention Department visit churches, communities and markets in and around Honiara.

Police has commenced its community engagement program since 3 February 2019 as a lead up to the National General Election (NGE) on 3 April 2019.

Supervising Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi says, “The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has commenced its community engagement program since 3 February 2019 as a lead up to the NGE on 3 April 2019.”

Police arrest a man in Honiara for alleged electoral offence

Officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) have arrested a man on 12 February 2019 for allegations instituted under the Electoral Act.

Police made the arrest after receiving referrals from the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) revealing details of a 50-year-old man from Malaita Province registered to vote on seven separate occasions, using different names, dates of birth and other details on each occasion. Only one of the seven registrations allegedly included his correct details.

RSIPF public order management capability on display

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Public Order Management Teams (POM) parade inspection was conducted at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara on 13 February 2019 as part of the security preparations towards National General Election.

The POM teams include officers from the Police Response Team (PRT), the Provincial Response Unit (PRU) in Guadalcanal Province, Central Response Unit (CRU) of Honiara City, the Police Band, the Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) Team and the Emergency Response Group (ERG) of the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands.
