The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Traffic Department has responded to a call by a member of the public regarding the ongoing traffic congestion created at the City Council and Central Market bus stops in Honiara.

Director National Traffic Department Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “I respect the call in regards to this ongoing traffic issues. The traffic congestion referred to is created by public buses.”

Investigators of the Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) have identified four suspects so far in relation to the alleged armed robbery at Maleai in the Shortland Islands, Western Province on 6 February 2019.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating an alleged armed robbery that occurred at the head office of the Elites Enterprises (SI) Limited at Ranadi in East Honiara on 8 February 2018.

It is alleged that at around 1 am on Friday 8 February 2018, a group of around 15 to 20 masked men entered the company’s compound and ransacked the head office including residents at the same building.

Police in Guadalcanal Province is investigating a fatal accident at Titinge II Ridge, North West Guadalcanal on 10 February 2019 during which one person died and three critically injured.

The accident involved a double cabin Hilux.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “The three injured persons are currently receiving medical attention at the National Referral Hospital and their condition is allegedly reported to be stable.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and police from Bougainville on the Papua New Guinea (PNG) side of the common border are working together to find suspects in the recent armed robbery incident at Maleai Village in the Shortland Islands, Western Province on 6 February 2019.

RSIPF Assistant Commissioner (AC) for Provincial Police, Joseph Manelugu says, “RSIPF officers and police from Bougainville met at Tuha Village near Nila in the Shortlands on 10 February 2019 and agreed to work together to find the suspects.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has formally opened its first Recruit Course for 2019 when a total of 69 - 42 male and 27 female, officers were formally welcomed into the Force today 11 February 2019.

Speaking at the opening ceremony Supervising Police Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi says, “On behalf of the RSIPF Executive and all members of the Force as well as our working partners from the Solomon Islands Police Development Program and the Solomon Islands Police Support Program I would like to welcome you into the RSIPF.”

A 37-year-old man in Malaita Province is facing a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm when he appeared in the Auki Magistrates Court on 7 February 2019.

Malaita Provincial Police Criminal Investigating Officer (PCIO), Inspector James Teilo says, “The case of the 37-year-old man was adjourned for 14 days by the Auki Magistrates Court.”

The first group of new recruits into the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) for 2019 will start their training at the Police Academy at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara on 11 February 2019.
