Police officers at the Kukum Traffic Centre in Honiara are investigating a fatal accident along the Hibiscus Avenue behind Anthony Saru building last night 23 November 2018.

Supervising Traffic Director Inspector Brian Surimalefo says, “A white two-tonne truck was allegedly involved in the hit and run accident. The incident happened between 12 midnight and 1am early this morning. The registration number of the vehicle is still unknown due to the fact that the driver switched off the vehicle lights and escaped from the scene.”

Visiting Assistant Commissioner of Police(AC) Provincial Joseph Manelugu praised the officers during a parade officers at the Tulagi Police Station mounted in his honour and a team from the National Community Policing Department today (20 November 2018) at Tulagi.

Police in Guadalcanal Province have arrested and charged three young boys in connection with the alleged rape of a 19-year-old girl at Okea in Central Guadalcanal on 30 September 2018.

The victim was walking back to her place at Malango, Central Guadalcanal when the alleged rape incident took place.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “The three suspects from Saba Village, in the Ngalimbiu area of North Guadalcanal were arrested between 15 and 17 November 2018 following investigations into the incident.”

Police at Kirakira in the Makira Ulawa Province is investigating a fatal road accident which resulted in the death of a four-year-old female child after she allegedly fell from a moving bus travelling from Kirakira to Kaonasugu Village in Central Makira on 18 November 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province, Peter Sitai explains: “It is alleged that in the afternoon of 18 November 2018 the child was travelling with her parents in a westerly direction from Kirakira town to Kaonasugu Village in an 18- seater bus.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team demolished more than 600 unexploded bombs (UXOs) in the Western Province during Operation Render Safe from 15 to 19 November 2018.

The Operation was conducted in Munda, Rendova, Ringi and Teme on Kolombangara Island.

A husband in his 30’s has allegedly committed suicide after an argument with his wife in the Tenaru area of Central Guadalcanal on 18 November 2018.
The alleged suicide occurred after a family argument between the deceased and his wife about domestic chores.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “The deceased and his wife started arguing over washing of their baby’s clothes on 17 November 2018.”

Police have so far arrested four people as investigations continue into the burning down of eleven dwelling houses at Taravo Village, in the Titige area of West Honiara, Guadalcanal Province yesterday(18 November 2018).

It is alleged the houses were burnt down after an argument occurred on 17 November 2018 during which abusive words were used against villagers of Taravo after which one of the villagers attacked the man who allegedly used abusive words and wounded him.

A middle aged male from Indonesia has died during a fatal road accident on a logging road at Lughighi in the western end of Rennell Island in the Rennell and Bellona Province on 15 November 2018.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Joseph Manelugu says, “The deceased is an employee of the Samlinson Logging Company currently operating on Rennell Island.”
