The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will be conducting bomb blasting operations in the Western Province commencing from 15 to 19 November 2018.

Officer In-Charge of the RSIPF EOD Team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Bomb Blasting Operations will be happening at the reported sites of Ringgi in Kolombangara and Munda on New Georgia.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has showcased the Niu Future programme to members of the Anglican youth during a meeting held in Gizo, Western Province on 6 November 2018.

The programme is designed to support young people to become leaders and identify issues affecting them and how they can work together with other stakeholders to address those issues. The programme has started in Honiara.

The Niu Future was showcased to promote ideas for youth engagement in Gizo.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is encouraging members of the public to report any one using high powered laser pointers at night against aircrafts taking off and landing at the Henderson International Airport in Honiara.

This call follows a report by the Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands of the increasing number of high power laser green strike incidents on aircraft arriving or departing at the Airport.

Police officers in Gizo Western Province today (6 November 2018) mounted a parade for the visiting Assistant Commissioners(AC) for the Provincial portfolio, AC Joseph Manelugu and National Capital and Crime Prevention, AC Simpson Pogeava.

AC Pogeava inspected the parade.

Speaking after the parade AC Pogeava says, “It is such an honour for me to inspect the parade this morning and I want to thank the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu and his officers for the excellent turn out.”

The Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has arrested and formally charged 19 drivers with presence of alcohol in the blood over the legal limit during an operation in Honiara on 2 - 3 November 2018.

Supervising Director Kukum Traffic Police, Inspector Brian Surimalefo says, “During the traffic operation my officers checked five hundred and ninety vehicles. Out of that, 19 were positive with presence of alcohol in their blood over the legal limit. All the 19 drivers were charged and released on bail to appear in Court at a date to be set.

As part of its preparations for the National General Election (NGE) in 2019, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is rolling out its Crime Prevention Strategy throughout the provinces starting with meetings in Gizo, Western Province from 6 to 9 November 2018.

The Principal Magistrate at Kirakira in the Makira Ulawa Province on 2 November 2018 sentenced a 40-year-old man to 16 years imprisonment after finding him guilty of eight charges of incest.

The man was found guilty of having sexual intercourse with his biological daughter on eight separate dates in 2011.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The convicted man from Tawaiabu Village in West Makira was found guilty of eight charges of incest by male. He is serving his sentence at the Kirakira Correctional Centre.”

Police at Henderson in Guadalcanal Province is investigating a fatal accident which occurred close to Suva road in North Guadalcanal on 2 November 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says “At least three people have been confirmed death in relation to the fatal accident last Friday while five other people who sustained injuries are still admitted at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara.”

Police in Central Province have arrested and charged a Form Three student of McMahon Community High School at Tulagi for allegedly causing an indecent act to a 7-year-old girl at the same School on 1 November 2018.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “The victim was having morning break with her friends at the School when the suspect allegedly came and tied both the hands of the victim and her friend with a skipping rope. The victim’s friend managed to escape.”
