Police at Henderson in Guadalcanal Province is investigating a wounding incident involving a Papua New Guinea (PNG) national working at the City Mission Rural Training Centre, Lunga, East Honiara on 30 October 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “The incident happened in the early hours of 30 October 2018 when a group of boys allegedly cut the compound fence of the City Mission Rural Training Centre and entered the residential area.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force(RSIPF) today observed a one-minute silence during the weekly Commissioner’s parade at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara in honour Woman Police Constable Belinda Alemae who passed away at Munda, Western Province on 30 October 2018.

The late Constable Alemae, 36, was posted at the Munda Police Station when she passed away at the Helena Goldie Hospital after a short illness. Her body was buried after a funeral service at her village of Kidu, Munda on 31 October 2018.

Police at the Kirakira in Makira Ulawa Province is assisting forestry officers execute a Commissioner of Forests order for the seizure of all forest produce, machineries and equipment of the Earthmovers Logging Company currently conducting operation at Marou Bay in the West Makira Constituency.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The order was issued following the failure of the Company to fulfil the ‘show cause’ notice by the Commissioner of Forests issued 3 October 2018.

Police at Kirakira in the Makira Ulawa Province is investigating a grievous harm incident involving a Malaysian national working at the Earthmovers logging camp at Marou Bay in West Makira on 27 October 2018.

The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “Information received so far say that the Malaysian national, who is in his 50s, was allegedly assaulted by a local resulting in the victim sustaining a broken jaw.

PPC Sitai adds: “The motive for the alleged assault is not clear but police are investigating this matter.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek East of Honiara on Thursday 1 November 2018.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal area will be active from 8am to 12pm on 1 November 2018.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force today (31 October) arrested and charged a serving Member of Parliament under section 278(1)(c)(i) of the Penal Code for the alleged conversion of $3 million grant from the National Transport Fund 2013.

One payment in the amount of $2.8 million was purportedly for the purchase of a ship. It is alleged the ship has never been received by the Constituency. It is alleged the remaining funds of $200,000 were used to purchase items not related to the purpose of the grant.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force today (31 October) arrested and charged the Member of Parliament for Savo Russell, Hon. Dickson Mua under section 278(1)(c)(i) of the Penal Code for the alleged conversion of a $3 million grant from the National Transport Fund 2013 paid to the Savo Russell Constituency.

The payment was purportedly for the purchase of a ship. It is alleged the money was never used for the purchase of a ship.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wish to advise members of the public that due to technical issues, calls coming to the Police Communication lines 23666 or the toll free line 999 during last weekend were not able to be answered.

“Over the weekend the RSIPF Police Communication Centre (PCC) at Rove Police Headquarters suffered a power surge. This had an adverse impact on the equipment and incoming calls to the PCC,” says Director of Police Communication Centre, Superintendent Ishmael Vunagi.

Police in the Makira-Ulawa Province is investing an alleged arson incident involving the burning of one excavator machine belonging to the Green Gold Logging Company at Manibena Village, several kilometres west of the provincial capital Kirakira on 7 October 2018.

Provincial Police Commander, Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The suspect is yet to be arrested but the police investigation into the incident continues. Police appeal to the general public in the area who may have knowledge about the incident to come forward and assist.”

Police in Makira Ulawa Province is investigating a fatal logging accident during which a man in his 30s died after a tree allegedly fell on him on 24 October 2018 at the King Solomon Logging Camp at Nakomage in South Star Harbour in the East Makira Constituency.

The local man was employed by the logging company.
