Police at Taro in Choiseul Province have arrested and charged a 29-year-old male suspect for allegedly punching and kicking a 45-year-old man from Rabakela Village in North West Choiseul on 27 October 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The grievous harm incident occurred at 2 am on Saturday 27 October 2018 at Taro Station.”
The National Intelligence Department (NID)of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has revealed that family violence, disturbances and disorderly behaviour; theft, fraud and robbery; and traffic offences continue to dominate the crime statistics for the fortnight 12 – 25 October 2018.
The fortnightly crime report covers incidences reported through the Central, White River and Naha Police Stations in Honiara City as well as the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province.
Police at Taro in Choiseul Province is investigating an alleged grievous harm incident which happened at Vangavanga Village in the Vagara area of North West Choiseul 23 October 2018.

Nineteen officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are to benefit from a two-week intensive Middle Management Course (MMC) that concluded on 26 October 2018 at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.
During her closing remarks, Supervising Assistant Commissioner, Corporate Support Anika Nausi says, “The Middle Management Course one of 2018 was delivered over two weeks with the aim to develop the knowledge and skill of RSIPF Supervisors in order to confidently, professionally and effectively perform their roles within the Force.”
The Sexual Assault Team (SAT) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested and charged a 16-year-old youth for allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl at Lengarauna Village, Visale in North West Guadalcanal on 19 October 2018.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ian Vaevaso says, “The suspect was arrested and charged with one count of rape. The suspect was remanded and will appear in Honiara Magistrate Court on 9 November 2018.”
The four officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) who returned from the second deployment to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan have been awarded the RSIPF’s International Law Enforcement Cooperation Medal during an official welcome parade at the Rove Police Headquarters today.
The four officers, who arrived back in Honiara on 23 October 2018 include:
Staff Sergeant Tex Tafoa;
Sergeant Nelson Kalea;
Police Constable Gregory Kisina, and
Police Constable Joseph Poleita.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tigoa Police Station in the Rennell and Bellona Province recently conducted community awareness meetings on the Family Protection Act (FPA) for communities and the school in West Rennell.
“The awareness meetings have been held after two of our officers from Tigoa Police Station attended a two-week training on the Family Protection Act held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara,” says Supervising Provincial Police Commander, Renbel Province, Sergeant Chris Tongaka.
Police at Tulagi in Central Province have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly assaulting his wife and tying up his 13-year-old elder son at Ha’a village on Big Gela recently.
The suspect was charge for domestic violence under Section 57 subsection 1 of the new Family Protection Act.
As part of its preparations for the 2019 National General Election, 23 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Makira-Ulawa Province underwent an intensive Public Order Management (POM) training from 16 – 19 October 2018 at Kirakira.
Police at Taro in Choiseul Province have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at different times in June and September 2018 in the Sube Sube area close to Poroporo Village on the Choiseul main land opposite Taro Island.
The alleged incident was only reported to Police at Taro on 22 October 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “This is another sad incident involving a very young girl. It is even worse as the suspect is the girl’s own grandfather.”
