The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (23 October) proudly welcomed back four of its officers who were deployed as the second group to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan last October 2017.
The RSIPF Officers on the second UN deployment includes:

Sergeant Nelson Kalea
Police Constable Gregory Kisina; and
Police Constable Joseph Poleita
The capacity of Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers serving in Choiseul Province to deal with Public Order Management (POM) incidents in that Province has been boosted with the completion of an intensive POM training conducted at Taro 16 – 20 October 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The training is to equip my officers in preparation for any public order situation that might arise in the province in the future including during the National General Election (NGE) next year.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SICCI) are taking the lead at finding a solution to the traffic situation at the Fishing Village Market in East Honiara.
“RSIPF and SICCI have decided to take the lead in the much discussed traffic situation at the Fishing Village Market in East Honiara with the formation of a sub-committee to consider ways of resolving the situation there which has come under a lot of public criticism,” says Inspector Brian Surimalefo, the Supervising Director Traffic Department.
The Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) was able to check 232 vehicles during an operation undertaken in Honiara from 19 - 20 October 2018.
Police at Auki in Malaita Province have arrested a 21-year-old male person for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl at Fulisango Village in Central Kwara’ae on 6 October 2018.
Police arrested the suspect on 18 October 2018.
The alleged rape incident happened in the evening of 6 October 2018 when the victim was on her way back to her house after watching movies at a nearby residence.
Police at Taro in Choiseul Province is investigating a fatal accident that occurred at the Kutu logging camp in East Choiseul which resulted in one death and two injuries on 10 October 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “It was a sad incident that claimed the life of a male person in his 30’s from Lulimekolo Village. The group of seven local men were allegedly having a few beers after work at Dudurana log pond. After finishing their drinks they decided to travel to a nearby village to buy more.”
“Looking back after 37 years of service in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is such a humble but proud moment for me. I feel that I have done my part and I have contributed to the security, policing and governance of the organization and my country,” says Superintendent Paul Bulu who retired from the RSIPF on 18 October 2018.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Rugby Team ‘The Royals’ returned home on 15 October 2018 after they came fourth in the inaugural Pacific Military Women’s Rugby sevens tournament (PACMIL Sevens) in Canberra, Australia.
The tournament, organized and funded by the Australian Defense Force (ADF), was attended by other Pacific nations including Australia, Fiji Tonga, Vanuatu, Samoa, New Zealand and the Cook Islands.
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) today 18 October 2018 farewelled 10 of its officers who have retired from the Force during a ceremony at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.
The ceremony included a farewell parade and light refreshments for the retired police officers.
The parade commander for the farewell ceremony was one of the retired officers Superintendent Paul Bulu.
Police at Tulagi in Central Province have been praised for their participation during a programme to mark the official launching of International Rural Women’s Day in that Province on 15 October 2018.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector John Sara says, “The programme was held on Nagotano Island in Sandfly Buenavester. Between five to six hundred women from around the Sandfly area gathered to celebrate the event. This is the first time ever for such an event to be conducted in the rural communities.”
