Police at Auki in Malaita Province is investigating a fatal accident that occurred in the Fulo area near Bona Village in West Kwaio on 5 October 2018.

Operation Manager Malaita Provincial Police, Inspector Michael Maebiru says, “It was a sad incident that claimed the life of a male person in his 60’s from Fulo Village. It is alleged he was travelling on a vehicle owned by the Jubilant Development Company operating in the Fulo area.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of a bomb in the Taihohoru Area of North West Guadalcanal on Thursday 11 October 2018.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “This bomb was reported recently to EOD by logging operators in the area. The task is to safely destroy the bomb by explosive means.”

OIC Tunuki says, “The Taihohoru area in North West Guadalcanal area will be active from 8am to 12 mid-day on 11 October 2018.”

Seif Ples, which provides services for survivors of family violence, will increase its services with the extension to accommodation space at its facility at the Rove Police Headquarters in West Honiara.

The ground breaking ceremony for the extension to its accommodation space was held on 5 October 2018. The ceremony was attended by the Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, HE Roderick Brazier; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Karen Galokale and officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Matthew Varley has thanked provincial police commanders (PPCs) and department directors for their contributions to the RSIPF’s Annual Business Plan 2019 (ABP) during the one-week conference held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara 1 – 5 October 2018.

The ABP provides appropriate Strategies to achieve each of the six goals set out in the RSIPF Strategic Directions 2017 – 2020.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating the death of a 12-year-old girl following an alleged rape incident on Tikopia Island in the Temotu Province on 4 October 2018.

“We are working very closely with the family of the suspect who allegedly raped the 12-year-old girl at Namo Village on Tikopia,” says Assistant Commissioner, Provincial Joseph Manelugu.

Police at Gizo in Western Province have rescued a white 21 foot banana boat with seven people onboard while drifting between Kolombangara and Gizo Island on Wednesday 03 October 2018 after their engine broke down.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Cedar Nevol says, “A banana boat powered by a 40 horse engine loaded with cargo and seven passengers left Gizo for Ringi in Kolombangara when its engine developed problems on the way.”

Police officers in Guadalcanal Province have arrested a 40-year-old male following a fatal traffic accident which claimed the life of a four-year-old male child at Komabulu Village, in the Reko area of North East Guadalcanal on 1 October 2018.

Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Tetere Police Station, Inspector Hughes Nevol says, “It is alleged that the 4-year-old was walking on the road side between 6 to 7 pm when the vehicle hit him.”

Police in Tulagi, Central Province is investigating the death of a couple at Gole Village, in Central Province after their bodies were found buried in their garden hut by a land slide on 27 September 2018.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander Central Province Inspector John Sara says, “It is alleged that the couple went gardening on the morning of Wednesday 26 September 2018. By afternoon the weather became bad. Heavy rain and strong winds were experienced and they did not return home.”

Several hundred members of the public and school children attended the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Open Day at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara and the provincial stations held 27 – 28 September 2018.

The program at the Rove Police Headquarters saw the various RSIPF departments and units as wells as stakeholders set up information stalls to talk about the activities of the departments as well as how the stakeholders work together with the police to prevent crime from communities in the country.
