Police at Gizo in Western Province have arrested and charged ten people on 3 August 2018 for the alleged brewing of kwaso at Lambulambu Village on Vella la Vella Island.
The suspects are believed to be from 16 to 39 years old.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Cedar Nevol says, “The ten people were escorted to Gizo Police Station by a member of the Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) of Lambulambu village, where they were formally arrested by police.”

Police in Central Province have arrested and charged five youth for causing nuisance and using abusive words to Police on 5 August 2018 at the Trimax area in Tulagi town.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “It was alleged that the boys were playing loud music in the Trimax area of Tulagi town at late hours. Police verbally warned them about 2 am this morning 6 August 2018 but they continued to ignore the warnings.”
The Close Personal Protection (CPP) Unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Response Department has a new office space opened at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (3 August 2018).
The new CPP Unit office, which also accommodates the Officer in-Charge of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD), used to be the office of the RSIPF’s Human Resources Department but has been renovated and equipped under the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP).
Police in Central Province are mounting an operation in the provincial capital Tulagi to clean up anti-social behavior in the town.
“The operation, which will be from 1 – 4 August 2018, is focused on black markets, people causing nuisance during night times, marijuana, illegal brewing of alcohol and drunk and disorderly,” says Inspector Hugo Maelasi, Operation Forward Commander.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek East of Honiara on Thursday 2 August 2018.
Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal area will be active from 8am to 2pm on 2 August 2018.”
Two men, 21 and 26 years old, have been ordered to pay a fine of $1000.00 each by the Honiara Central Magistrates Court after being found guilty of consuming liquor in a public place at the Honiara Central Market on 28 July 2018.
The two men were ordered to pay the fine by Monday 6 August 2018 or they be sent to jail for 40 days.
“Police officers conducting foot beat patrol around the Central Market area sighted the defendants holding a can of cheers drink as they drank from it,” says Provincial Police Commander Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga.
Police at Taro in Choiseul Province are investigating an alleged wounding incident at Voruvoru Village in Choiseul Province on 29 July 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The alleged wounding incident happened after a local suspect went to Voruvoru Village and allegedly confronted a Malaysian and punched him. It is alleged the Malaysian reacted and ran back to the logging camp and got his knife and returned to the village to search for the suspect.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) calls on members of the public to respect all police vehicles and other property as investigations continue into an incident in the Kakabona area, West of Honiara during which some youth stoned a police vehicle at midnight on 30 July 2018.
Police at Tulagi in the Central Province have successfully rescued five passengers whose boat experienced engine problem while travelling between Honiara and Gela on 30 July 2018.
The passengers rescued included the doctor at the Tulagi Hospital, two of his staff and two other people.
