Police at Taro in Choiseul Province is investigating an alleged indecent act on a 3-year-old female child by of a 40-year-old man at Vurango Village, North West Choiseul recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Choiseul Province Vincent Eria says, “Police here in Taro received a report alleging that a 40-year-old man had committed an indecent act on a 3-year-old female child. Upon receiving the report police proceeded to investigate the matter.”

Police in the Central Province have completed high visibility patrols to 10 villages in the Province on 18 July.

The villages included Gairavu, Boromole, Kumoligohu, Soso, Semege, Soka, Boroni Olevuga, New Vunuha and Haleta.

Police at the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province are investigating death of a 40-year-old man at Kakabona in North West Guadalcanal on 11 July 2018

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “On 10 July 2018, the deceased was complaining of cold and fever. He was taken to Marara Clinic by his wife and son.”

PPC Manetoga explains: “On 11 July 2018 the deceased and his wife went to a relative’s house nearby and he fell off from where he was sitting.”

Police in Central Province have completed a two-day Crime Prevention Strategy training held at the Tulagi Police Station from 16 -17 July 2018.

Speaking during the opening of the training, the Operation Manger, Inspector John Sara says, “The training is very important because officers will be equipped with skills and knowledge in their daily work. In addition, officers will know how to resolve issues using the S.A.R.A (Scanning, Analyse, Response and Assessment) model.”

A 30-year-old woman has been arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting her 62-year-old mother-in- law at Halavo Village, in Big Ngella, Central Province on 10 July 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Central Province Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “The victim is currently admitted at the Tulagi Hospital with swollen ribs, hands and face.”

PPC Leta says, “My officers received the report on the 10 July and they attended to it on the 11 July 2018.”

Police in Western Province are working together with the community on Mono Island in the Shortland’s to look at ways in which a police officer could be reposted to the Island.

This was after the Officer who was posted at the Mono Police Post left the Post after he was threatened along with his family.

“The police officer who was posted to Mono Police Post left with his family after he was threatened and a case has been established for investigations,” says Provincial Police Commander Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu.

Police at Tulagi in the Central Province have conducted a high visibility patrol during the official opening of a Rural Health Clinic at Vura Village, in Big Ngella on 13 July 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “More than 600 people attended and witnessed the official ceremony including a provincial government delegation from Tulagi.”

PPC Leta says, “A member of the Vura Rural Health Clinic Organizing Committee Maxson Mumuku highly commended police for their presence as result the program ended peacefully.”

Police Traffic Officers in Honiara have made several arrests over the weekend on the capital’s roads.

“Three people were charged for careless driving, two charged for drunken driving, one charged for driving an unlicensed motor vehicle and one for reckless and dangerous driving,” says Director Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.

He adds: “Those charged have been released to appear before the court on their specific dates.”

A 32-year-old man has been fined $1,000.00 after being found guilty of consuming liquor in a public place on 11 July 2018 in Honiara.

“On the morning of 11 July 2018, one of my officers went into a shop at Point Cruz and sighted a male person standing in front of the shop holding a can of drink. He was talking loudly as he drank from the can and begun to attract the attention of those passing by,” says Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga.
