Four officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Darfur, Sudan have been awarded medals in recognition of their service to the United Nation African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) during a medal presentation at the Mission’s headquarter in Elfasher on 11 July 2018.

The four officers include Staff Sergeant Tex Tafoa, Sergeant Paul Kalea and Police Constables Gregory Kisina and Joseph Poleita.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu thanks the people of Western Province for a peaceful 40th anniversary of independence celebration from 4 to 6 July 2018.

“This is a very positive outcome for the people here in Western Province especially residents of Gizo Town and visiting people from our neighbouring islands,” says PPC Lenialu.

He adds: “So far there is no report of any criminal activity received and there were no arrests made during the celebration.”

A 23-year-old male has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 20-year-old girl in the Lunga area in East Honiara on 9 July 2018.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Guadalcanal Province Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, “My officers attended to the report of the alleged rape after it was reported to police on 10 July and apprehended the alleged suspect around the Plywood area at Lunga.”

Police at Yandina in the Central Province have conducted an awareness talk at the start of a futsal tournament which kicked off in the Russell Islands on 9 July 2018.

Forty teams from within the Russell Islands for both women and men are participating in the Tournament which is organized by the Central Province Football Association and the Russell Islands Football Association.

Officer Commanding Station Yandina, Staff Sergeant Thomas Fakatonu presented on how to respect law and order and members of the Crime Prevention Committees established throughout the Province.

Police at Tulagi in the Central Province have been praised for providing a high visibility presence during the Pana Festival at Haroro Village in Sand Fly on 6 July.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Central Province Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “Chairman of the Pana Festival Organizing Committee, Mr Peter Sagupari commended and acknowledged police at Tulagi for a job well done during the Festival.”

The Fire and Rescue Service of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) with the assistance of Stakeholders has safely removed all the chemicals illegally dumped near the Tuvaruhu Community High School in Central Honiara to a safe location on 7 July 2018.

The stake holders include Ministry Of Environment, Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Honiara City Council.

The Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has arrested and charged eleven drivers for drunk driving during a traffic operation in Honiara on the night of 7 July 2018.

“The traffic operation was carried out to ensure that our drivers and road users abide by our traffic laws and to ensure that the roads are safe for all,” says Director Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.
