Inspector Lillian Nawaro Dagi of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today received her Solomon Islands Meritorious Medal (SIMM) for her services to the Force during the official 40th anniversary of independence celebrations in Honiara.
Inspector Dagi's award was announced during the 39th anniversary last year.

H.E the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui present the award during the 40 Independence Anniversary Parade at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara on 6 July 2018.

A 40-year-old male suspect has been arrested in relation to the burning of a Police boat in Makira Ulawa Province last month following a joint operation comprising of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Police Response Team (PRT), Maritime Unit and police at the Kirakira Police Station.

The arrest was made in the early hours of today, 5 July 2018, at Nakuhu Village in the East Makira Constituency, Makira Ulawa Province.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) today (4 June 2018) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sexual and Gender Based Violence Referrals with other stakeholders under the banner of SAFENET.

The Provincial Police Commander Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu appeals to the people in Gizo to celebrate the 40th anniversary of independence which started today (4 July 2018) until 6 July 2018 responsibly.

Police in Gizo is mounting an operation to ensure the celebration goes in peacefully.

“I want to appeal to the people residing in Gizo and also to those visiting from our islands to celebrate this anniversary responsibly,” says PPC Lenialu.

The Fire and Rescue Service of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) continues to remind the public to stay away from the cordoned area at the Tuvaruhu Community High School in Central Honiara where chemicals were found on 2 July 2018.

“We have already dug up four separate locations that we suspected that some of the bottles of chemicals are buried. Today (4 July 2018) we are working on properly storing them before they can be removed by the responsible Government Ministries,” says Director of Fire and Rescue Service, Superintendent Rodney Kuma.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have rescued two victims related to the fallen tree which killed one woman on Mono Island in the Shortlands, Western Province on 1 July 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “One of the victims, who was in a critical condition, was airlifted from Mono to Gizo by a diverted Solomon Airlines flight from Mbalalae.”

Police at the White River Police Station in West Honiara have arrested a 21-year-old male suspect for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at White River on 30 June 2018.

It is alleged that the victim in this case was raped by a male person at White River area in the early afternoon on 30 June 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says, “The alleged suspect was later arrested by investigators and taken to the Central Police Station Watch House for further dealings.”

Police at Auki in the Malaita Province have arrested three suspects for allegedly stealing money during a boat trip from Honiara to Auki on 30 June 2018.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Malaita Province Superintendent Timothy Apaesi says, “The victim was travelling from Honiara to Auki on one of the local inter-island boats with more than $17,000.00 cash in her bag. During the trip she put her bag as her pillow and went to sleep.”

Police officers at the Gizo Police Station in Western Province mounted a guard of honour for the new premier for Western Province soon after his election today (3 July 2018).

“The election of the new premier has been anticipated by the people of Western Province following the recent provincial assembly election.
