Police at Gizo in the Western Province are searching for a foreign national that was believed to have fallen over board after his boat was found at Sambora Village, Vella la Vella on 2 July 2018.

“Reports reaching the RSIPF are that the 50-year-old German National was travelling from Liapari to Gizo but failed to reach his destination,” says Provincial Police Commander Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Traffic Department in Honiara have arrested and charged seven people for drunk driving on 29 June 2018.

This came about during a Random Breathe Test operation to stop drunk drivers from driving on the roads in the capital.

“During this operation, Traffic Officers checked 149 vehicles and the highest offence detected is the presence of alcohol in a person’s blood,” says Director National Traffic Department, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) strongly warns the public not to target its officers as they attend to incidents in the community.

This follows an incident when officers from the Henderson Police Station, East of Honiara were injured when they attended to a rock-throwing incident in the Henderson area on 1 July 2018.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Guadalcanal Province Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “Five people have been arrested in relation to the rock throwing incident.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has completed its first ever training program for members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) in defensive tactics and firearms.

Nine officers of the RPNGC today (29 June 2018) completed a five-week Operational Safety Qualifying program held at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara. The program was coordinated by the RSIPF’s own instructors assisted by Advisors under the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP).

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) today (29 June 2018) opened a new Family Violence (FV) Office at the Central Police Station in Honiara.

“The new FV Office will be a coordination centre consisting of the National FV Coordinator, Honiara FV Coordinator and a team of FV investigators. These investigators will remain under the Provincial Police Commander, Honiara City and will continue to investigate FV cases referred to police within the Honiara City jurisdiction,” says Commissioner Matthew Varley

The Fire and Rescue Service of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) conducted an awareness session on basic fire safety at the Pikinini Day Care School in East Kola Ridge in Honiara on 28 June 2018.

Director Fire and Rescue Service Superintendent Rodney Kuma says, “The program was presented by Sergeant Mathew Pio with the assistance from Police Constables Timothy Senge and Claudie Basil. They presented to 27 Kindy students and four teachers.”

Police officers at the Taro Police Station in Choiseul Province mounted a guard of honour for the new premier for Choiseul Province soon after his election on 28 June 2018.

“It was a great honour for me and my officers to mount a guard of honour to welcome the new Choiseul Province Premier,” says Provincial Police Commander Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria.

He says, “I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the new premier of Choiseul Province Hon. Watson Qoloni and I thank the former Premier, Jackson Kiloe.”

Police at Buala in Isabel Province have praised the people of Isabel and visitors for their good and peaceful behaviour during the one-week Kodili Festival which ended in the provincial capital today(29 June 2018).

During the week police at Buala conducted an operation during the Festival to ensure the safety of people, guests and visitors was maintained.

Police in Honiara is investigating a fatal traffic accident at the Ranadi Roundabout in East Honiara in the evening of 27 June 2018.

“It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle was travelling with his wife and another male person in a two and a half ton truck. It is alleged they were travelling at high speed and when approaching the Roundabout at Ranadi, the vehicle veered off the road and ran into the Telekom fence,” says Director Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.
