Police at Tulagi in the Central Province conducted a community awareness talk at Ghumba Village on Big Ngella between 8 and 9 June 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Central Province Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “The messages delivered during the two days were on the ongoing engagement with stakeholders and communities to fight against crime.”

Police at Kirakira in the Makira-Ulawa Province have arrested and charged six teenagers for multiple crimes on 5 June 2018.

Provincial Police Commander(PPC), Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The youths were charged for allegations of malicious damage, intimidation, going armed in public, criminal trespass, house break-in and restriction of making liquor.”

PPC Sitai says, “The alleged suspects will appear in the Kirakira Magistrates’ Court on 19 June 2018 for their plea.”

Police at Tulagi in the Central Province have arrested and charged a 51-year-old man from Tangare settlement near Hagalu Village in Big Ngella on 2 June 2018 for several counts of alleged rape.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “The alleged rape incident happened between 9 May and 2 June 2018.”

Police at Kirakira in the Makira-Ulawa Province have arrested and charged three men in their 30’s for allegedly stealing chainsaws at the Na’ana Elite logging camp in East Makira recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The alleged incident occurred on 22 of May 2018 Ward 14 in the East Makira constituency.”

PPC Sitai explains: “The three chainsaws were allegedly stolen by the alleged suspects from a storage cargo container.”

Police in Auki, Malaita Province is clamping down on the production of the illegal substance kwaso with the recent raid on two separate locations near the provincial capital on 6 June 2018.

Police confiscated large amounts of distilled kwaso at two different locations including Ambu Village and in the Tiki area near the Aligegeo Provincial Secondary School.

A suspect was arrested at Ambu Village and placed in police custody whilst the other two suspects in the Tiki area escaped police.

Five serving officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been recognised in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours and Awards for their service to the Force.

H.E the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui announced the awards during the Queen’s Birthday Parade at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara on 8 June 2018.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) now has a new Police Response Team (PRT) facility in Gizo, Western Province.

The new facility, opened on 2 June 2018, was funded under the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP). The facility is located at the Gizo Police Station.

Speaking during the handing over and opening ceremony at Gizo, RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley says, “I am honoured to be here today to open this new RSIPF Police Response Team Facility in Western Province; a boost for RSIPF operational capability.”
