Commissioner of Police, Matthew Varley opened the Operational Safety Training (OST) Instructors Course for about forty officers on Monday, 28 May 2018 at Rove Police Headquarters.
For the first time ever, the RSIPF is also hosting ten operational officers from the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) on the program, due to a joint agreement between the RSIPF and RPNGC, supported and funded by the Australian Federal Police.
Police investigators in Honiara are investigating a death of an adult male at Lengakiki area in West Honiara since 27 May 2018, early hours in the morning.
The matter is being investigated jointly by investigators from Honiara Central Police Station and the National Criminal Investigation Division (NCID).
Police at Henderson Police Station are investigating a fatal accident which resulted to the death of 41-year-old man at Tenaru area in Central Guadalcanal today, 27 May 2018.
It is alleged prior to the accident, the deceased was sitting behind a double cabin Hilux vehicle which was travelling along Tenaru main road when the vehicle went off track the road and ditched into a drain.
It is further alleged the driver of the vehicle was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Twelve provincial security guards for Central Provincial Government successfully completed a week workshop which was conducted by police in the Provincial Headquarter at Tulagi, Central Province.
The workshop was held in the provincial conference room at the provincial capital, Tulagi from 21 – 25 May 2018. This was after the Central Provincial Government wrote a letter to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Office of the Provincial Police Commander for Central Province, seeking police assistance to train its security officers.
The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu thanks people in the Gizo Kolombangara constituency for a crime free by- election on 23 May 2018.

The Provincial Police Headquarters at Kirakira in the Makira-Ulawa Province has been audited by a team from the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara from 22-23 May 2018.
The auditing is part of the Provincial Operational Performance Audit (POPA) of all Police assets, leadership issues and other administrative matters. The Audit are rolled out across the country to improve standards and practices. Six have been done so far this year.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Corruption Team have arrested a member of the Makira-Ulawa Provincial Government for alleged corruption offences recently.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime Ian Vaevaso says, “The member is alleged to be the Minister for Education in the Makira-Ulawa Province when he was arrested by police. He is charged with two counts of Conversion under section 278, subsection (c) and (i) of the Penal Code.”
The Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force(RSIPF), Matthew Varley has congratulated the Provincial Police Commander, Makira-Ulawa Province and his officers for the work they have done to maintain law and order in that Province despite the some challenges.
Commissioner Varley addressed the police officers at the Kirakira Police Station during a brief visit on 22-23 May on the way back from the opening of a new police station on Ulawa Island.
Four of the five missing people who were rescued on 16 May on one of the islands in the Duff Islands in Temotu Province have now been discharged from the Lata Hospital after medical treatment while one of them is still undergoing treatment at the Hospital.
RSIPF officers successfully transported the four men and one child from the Duff Islands by the Police Patrol Boat Auki to Lata for medical treatment on 19 May 2018.
