More than 400 people at Bola Village and surrounding communities in Big Ngella in Central Province have benefitted from the presence and awareness talks by police from the Tulagi Police Station during a church program on 4 May 2018.

The Bola Community organized the program to raise funds for a new chapel.

People in three communities in Central Province have appreciated the presence of police during three different activities in the Province recently.

This included the land case hearing at Semege Sub-station near Boroni Village in North Sandfly from 17 to 19 April 2018, the Open Forum at McMahon School on Tulagi Island on 23 April 2018 and the blessing of the Marvel cement grave of the late Anglican Bishop Charles Elliot Fox Koete at Polomuhu Village, North West Big Ngella from 4 – 6 May 2018.

Police officers at Tulagi in the Central Province are investigating the death of a 72-year-old man on Savo Island on 10 March 2018 but only reported to police on 2 May 2018.

“It is alleged that prior to the discovery of the deceased on 10 March 2018, he was at his coconut plantation not far from his settlement at Guelomata near Koela Village on South Savo where his body was discovered the next day,” says Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta.

Police in the Central Province have executed its first Interim Protection Order in the Province on a 28-year-man under the Family Protection Act on 3 May 2018 as it warns that domestic violence cannot be tolerated.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta explains: “A male person from Toa Village, on Small Ngella and was married to his wife, the victim, in 2007 and the couple lived in the Foxwood area in Guadalcanal Province where his parents lived.”

About 300 students and teachers at the McMahon Community High and Primary School in Tulagi in the Central Province have acknowledged the awareness talk conducted on the issues of kwaso and marijuana by the police in the township today.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force have arrested two female suspects for illegal brewing of kwaso at the Crusher are in White River, West Honiara 9 May 2018.

A 35-year-old and a 28-year-old female were arrested after police conducted a ground search warrant at the Crusher opposite the Karaina Settlement area.

The alleged suspects were apprehend at the Honiara Central Police station for further dealings and investigation.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek East of Honiara on Thursday 10 May 2018.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal area will be active from 8am to 2pm on 10 May 2018.”

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent Patricia Leta urges her officers to understand the power of the media and utilise it to disseminate information to the communities about the work of the police.

Speaking at the opening of a five-day Media Awareness Workshop at the Tulagi Police Station today 7 May, PPC Leta says, “Media is one of the most powerful entities in the world today. The media gets your message to a wider audience and it also influences our societies.”
