Police in Guadalcanal Province confiscated 103 cartons of beer in North West Guadalcanal in an operation to close down beer outlets operating in the Guadalcanal without a valid licence.
As part of the operation Guadalcanal Police visited and checked 16 liquor shops from Kakabona and down to the Selwyn College area.
The Royal Solomon Island Police force will be mounting an operation to provide security during the brief tour of the FIFA World Cup trophy on Thursday 1 January 2018.
The trophy will be travelling to the country from Tonga to Solomon Islands and will be in the country for a short while.
“We will be providing security to ensure that no anti-social behaviours during the stop-over and to ensure that the members of the public are safe,” says Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Gabriel Manelusi.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to people throughout the country to think safety first before embarking on any trip at sea during the current bad weather.
This comes after police continues to receive reports of people missing at sea or encountering difficulties while attempting to travel during this bad weather.
Police in Auki, Malaita Province are investigating the burning of six dwelling houses at a settlement near Fote Village, West Kwara’ae, in Malaita Province on 26 January 2018.
The burning of the dwelling houses happened after an argument over land where a logging company is operating.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander, Malaita Province, Superintendent Timothy Apaesi says, “There are six families currently affected following the alleged arson incident. Food gardens were also allegedly destroyed and then stolen.”
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) warns members of the public to be careful and not to touch any fallen electrical lines lying on the ground during the current bad weather being experienced throughout the country.
The warning comes after a 49-year-old female died in Auki, Malaita Province over weekend as a result of being electrocuted after touching an electrical line which had fallen on the roadside.
Police in Auki, Malaita Province are investigating an alleged attempted suicide involving a 60-year-old male who set fire to his own dwelling house at Kafomara village, Central Kwara’ae, Malaita province on 23 January 2018.
Provincial Police Commander, Malaita Province, Superintendent Timothy Apaesi says, “The victim lived alone for a few months and became depressed after his wife went to live with her daughter who was married to a man from North Malaita.”
Road users in Honiara and all throughout the provinces are urged to think safety during the current wet season when travelling on the roads.
Director of the Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Inspector, Brian Surimalefo makes the call in the midst of the current bad weather being experienced throughout the country.
“Safety on the road begins with all of us, whether you are a vehicle driver or pedestrian it is always our duty to think about others’ safety,” says Inspector Surimalefo.
Police in Honiara are closely watching activities at the Kola Ridge car wash in East Honiara following several assault incidents reported in the area.
Provincial Police Commander, Honiara City, Alfred Uiga says, “the latest report is of a male person allegedly receiving three knife cuts on his body in the Kola Ridge cash wash area on 21 January 2018. It is alleged that the victim is the suspect’s nephew and that the same offender had assaulted another male person at the same location earlier.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has destroyed the last remaining blue boat, today (26 January 2018) out at sea, Iron Bottom Sound.
Supervising Commissioner of RSIPF, Deputy Commissioner Juanita Matanga says, “The RSIPF was given the responsibility to carry out the destruction of the last blue boat by the Ministry of Fisheries, while two other boats were destroyed by locals with the advice of Fisheries earlier on.”
Police in Choiseul Province are investigating a death incident involving two Asians employed by a foreign logging company operating in Legavana Camp, South Choiseul on 25 January 2018.
Supervising Police Provincial Coordinator (PC), Sergeant Robert Satini says, “Police officers in Choiseul Province received the report and it was alleged that the five (5) Asians, after eating what described as bush cabbage became ill.”
