Police traffic officers in Honiara together with the Honiara City Council (HCC) law enforcers are conducting traffic checks in Honiara from 16 - 30 January 2018 as the City Council implements its decision on the new bus routes.

This came about after members of the public raised concerns on some buses that are not complying with the HCC Ordinance on new bus routes and the presence of unlicensed motor vehicles on the road.

Police at the Malu’u Police Station in North Malaita, Malaita Province have arrested a 19- year-old man on 14 January 2018 following an alleged break-in into a Malaita provincial government house at the Station.

Police alleged the man stole valuable properties worth around $1,750.00 from the house.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Malaita Province, Superintendent Timothy Apaesi says, “I appeal to members of the communities in Malu’u to work together with the police for a safer community in supplying information about the alleged incident.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is gathering information and monitoring the so-called church movement called “kingdom” by a certain group of people in Malaita Province, as reported in the local media.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Timothy Apaesi says, “My officers are gathering information about the alleged church movement and sale of properties by members of the movement.”

Police in Munda, Western Province have arrested and charged a prominent local business man and his son for assaulting a 65-year-old man in Munda over the weekend.

The incident happened at the Munda wharf on 13 January 2018.

“It is alleged that the victim had an argument with the suspects and it was during the argument that both accused assaulted the victim leaving him with a dislocated jaw,” says Provincial Police Commander, Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu.
