A 27-year-old male who allegedly attacked a member of the Church of Melanesia Brotherhood (Tasiu) has surrendered himself to police in the Makira-Ulawa Province.

The man has since been formally charged with one count of unlawful wounding contrary to section 229 of Penal Code and released on bail to appear before Kirakira (Eastern) Magistrate Court on 10 October 2017.

The incident allegedly occurred on 20 August 2017, at the Rea coastal area, in the Weathercoast of Makira-Ulawa Province.

A combined team of police officers from White River and Honiara Central Police stations yesterday (Wednesday 20 September) confiscated marijuana and the illegal local brew kwaso at Karaina roadside and Savo heights, at White River in West Honiara.

The raid was in response to information supplied by the public alleging the selling of marijuana and kwaso alongside the road.

Three males have been arrested by police in relation to the confiscated items and the trio are expected to be interviewed today.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) welcomes public criticism for an allegation of misconduct during a police raid over the weekend which claim that Police Response Team (PRT) involved.

Island Sun newspaper issue number 2705 reported that PRT is under public criticism over its treatment of a couple during a weekend raid.

The report stated that police threaten the couple to tell their involvement in the illegal business behind the NPF building, Pt Cruz, opposite Tongs building.

Henderson Provincial Police of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) arrested an 18 years old girl for concealing her infant baby at Kingdom Harvest Henderson in Central Guadalcanal on 17th September 2017.

The infant baby was then taken by Police to Honiara National Referring Hospital (NRH) and declared dead.

The mother of the deceased was arrested and place in police custody for questioning and further investigation.

White River Police of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) arrested three (3) male suspects for allegedly stealing at Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Manasseh Maelanga’s residence on the 18th September 2017 at Tasahe B area, West Honiara.

It was alleged that the trio male suspects did enter the residence and took away some valuable properties.

The alleged suspect are expected to appear in the Honiara Magistrate Court today 19.09.2017.

White River police confirm that the stolen properties as alleged have been recovered and under police custody.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has highly commended members of the Civil Society Group for the peaceful march from SMI to the office of the Prime Minister, West Honiara today 19.09.2017.

Deputy Commissioner Operations Mr Gabriel Manelusi said, “I behalf of the RSIPF I wish to acknowledge the Civil Society Group and students who involved in the peaceful march.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will maintain visibility during the approved march by the civil society group scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday 19 September 2017.

“I can confirm that the police has given approval for the peaceful march by the civil society group. The approval was given after the organisers of the event have assured us that it will be a peaceful march from the SMI area near Town Ground in West Honiara to the Office of the Prime Minister,” says Gabriel Manelusi, Deputy Commissioner, Operations.

Police in Malaita Province have arrested a 42-year-old male on the 10th of September 2017 following a complaint the man had allegedly falsified documents for payments.

The man was later charged by police for allegation of False Pretence and appeared before the Auki Magistrate Court on 13th September 2017 .The court ordered he be remanded in custody for 14 days.

Police in Guadalcanal Province are investigating the dead of a male adult at a location west of Honiara last night.

The police was only alerted to the incident after the body had been taken to the National Referral Hospital (NRH).

“We want to call on the family and relatives of the deceased to allow the police to continue with its investigation into the matter and not to take the law into your own hands,” says Supervising Commissioner of Police, Juanita Matanga.
